Thanks to all who wrote about my dilemma with my 17 year old cat. I had him put to sleep this morning and honestly while I am very say, feel it was the ONLY decision for him. The German vet was very kind in the end and compassionate. I had to rush home and get rid of all the cat stuff and Cleaned the entire house, but am at peace with my decision. Thanks to all you who answered my request for help. I am blessed to be able to bring stuff like this ( not related to WLS at all) and appreciate all the support both with the many Stalls and with this difficult time. Thanks, Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline, I'm so sorry that you had to put Mack to sleep. Make sure that you take out all of the pictures you have of him and look at them (when you're ready) and to allow yourself to grieve over the loss of such a precious pet that was part of your life for SO many years. He was a companion and part of the family for SO long, how could you not miss him? He'll be your little angel now. Hang in there and post if you need us...we're here for you! paula

Hi Jacqueline, I know that this must have been such a hard decision... I have had to go through this myself with my family. It is never easy.... My heart is with you. It is so difficult to have to loose a loved one. Our pets are our family and friends. Please take care, Mary

It was an act of love, and both of you know that. Grieve in pieces when you can, but don't try to rush over it, or rush through the process. --BT

So sorry you are hurting... Say not "My heart is broken...say instead "my heart has known great joy." Say not, I have lost a treasure...say instead..I once held a precious thing, and called it mine. Say not, I will remember and weep..say instead, I will think of happy times and smile and sometimes even laugh. Say not, life is empty now,,,say instead..Oh how my life has been enriched. Say not,,I will never see him again,,,,but say instead..I will look for him in the things tthat brought us joy, and finding him there, I will hold his memory close for a moment. Say not ay..I have been robbed of a treasured thing.. Say instead,,,my tears are the interest on Heavens sweetest loan."

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

Sending prayers so Mack is romping with all our other "furbabies" over that Rainbow bridge. Sandy

Hi Jacjqueline - I didn't see that post! sorry I couldn't give you the support at the time that you needed it. I know it is so hard to do something like that. I've had to do with cats, as well as dogs, and it just isn't easy. But you have to think of their little life and the quality, and how they suffer so silently -- Go get another kitten!!! love donna
