Congradulations on reaching an important goal!! And remember...however long it takes imagine thinking a year ago you'd have lost 100 pounds!! If you are like me...that wasn't even a dream. And yes, appetite comes back and the pouch is just a tool. WE have to control what we feed the appetite. Me..I am hooked on string cheese when I need a snack. 8 grams of Protein for little calories and full of calcium too. It is getting harder for me toloose wieght...feels like a snail, but that is OK, I am still loosing and feel Great!! Remember all the new things you can do now with 100 less pounds to deal with!! Congradulate yourself daily for the great job you are doing!! jacqueline
Jealous! I've been stuck at 99 lbs for the last 3 weeks -- which gets to the other half of your post, yes it is definitely getting harder. For me, with 20 lbs left to lose, it's a lot of things:
1. I'm already at what I thought was my "goal" size, a 10 -- and feeling like I look pretty darn good, so there's not the same motivation.
2. I can eat a lot more, including more carbs without getting sick (darn!)
3. Weight loss isn't a given, if a little more food creeps into my day because of 1 and 2, it stops altogether.
Ah, well, it's all part of the process. Congratulations, I'm really happy for you, and hope to be joining you in the century club sooner rather than later. Have a great holiday weekend!
Hi Jean - congratulations! Good job. Oh, and be sure and read the post I put in yesterday about the first year of Gastric Bypass and you'll see that it's normal in 6-9 months for you to eat a little more.
One thing I don't do, just because I know me and I am a compulsive overeater (oh, that another meeting!!), is I don't eat things to 'try' out. I don't eat sugar, and haven't had anything with sugar in it other than the small amount in some of the food I eat. I don't want to dump (haven't yet) and I don't want to test to see how far I can go. I'm afraid, for me, that's a slippery slope. Like I hear some say they've had 5 or six french fries - I would love that, but I couldn't stop at that, I know I couldn't. Even with a small pouch, I would get sick. I have to be so careful cause I know the feeling to get out of control is not far out of my sight.
Since I think January or February, I have only lost in the single digits -- with 7 pounds a month being about average. I am not losing more than that. But I hope to keep losing, and one day be at my goal, whatever that is!!
Get your century club card Jean. I think you can go to the FAQ in the main board and email and they will put it in your profile!! It's something you need to brag about!! Who would have thought a year ago, we would be in this great place of being 100 pounds lighter!!
Good luck!
love

Hi all: I had my surgery on 9/29/05 and am only (only?) down 60# - but the craving for sugar has come back in full force. I had a severe dumping episode yesterday but it's left me with little energy.
What can I do differently? For the first 4-6 months I had tons of energy, now I just drag through the day. I want to be part of the century club! Help!
I take 2 multi's a day (chewable)
2 Biotin
1 Iron
2 Calcium (chewable)
Usually 2 protein shakes, or a shake and a protein bar
Drink about 2 litres of water, Exercise 2x a week - this I know I can bump up
Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks -
Jen Santana
