I ahve lost 88lbs in 8 months today. I am losing slow because I am cheating and eating too many calories. I can eat more and it takes more to feel full. I am hungry today and am scared I am losing my will power. Any one else having a difficult time too? Help. Maggie 309/221/135

Yes! For the last two months I have been taking advantage of this surgery, I have been snacking and laxing on the water and making bad food choices. As a result, I lost a little over 2 lbs in those two months. I had to smack myself back into reality and realize that I CAN do this! Try drinking water a lot! And eating fresh fruit when the snacking hits you. Good luck Maggie! You can email me anytime if you need to. [email protected] You can do it! Krista Z

Hi Maggie, You're not alone...It seems like I'm getting a lot hungrier more often and my pouch can hold more. I too have been making bad food choices at times, especially the week before my cycle...which happens to be this week! I'm trying to get back on track. I'm losing slow now too. I've lost 100 lbs total but have 60 more to go. I don't want to sabatage this surgery, but I don't know why I'm doing it. Maybe i need some therapy...I'm afraid to talk to my surgeon about this, I feel like he'll look down on me instead of helping me. He'll refer me to his dietician and I dont' want to go to her. I have to see him on June 7th. I don't like this out of control, I'm feeling hungry all the time feeling again. I wi**** hadn't come back. I'm going to do an "all protein" week or two (not one carb) and see if that gets my cravings down. It did last summer when I started losing weight prior to surgery. paula

Paula, I live on bananas, yogart, beef jerky, fruit of any kind, oatmeal. Cheese, and at supper one meat and veg or Deli roast beef. I do get my protein in everyday along with vitiams and excercise. I am still losing 7-8 pounds a month. When I get hungry I grab a fruit or yogart and that really feels me up. I found this is the only diet that will work for me. I was doing crackers and popcorn and was losing nothing a few months ago. So I am now when I get hungry I do one of those . And my weight loss has started back up. The past 2 months. Your going to get there. Have you started walking yet. You will be amazed how that will boost your weight loss. Paula talk to your pcp. Take Care Hugs Barb

Hi Maggie, Listen, I have lost alot less than you have. On my day of surgery on September 19, I weighed 309# as well. Now, I am 235. I totally disgust myself, talk about issues! I believe I am the slowest loser on this board, unfortunately. I don't eat alot at a time, but it's not the "right" stuff...and I know better. I still have the same issues with bad food choices as I did BEFORE the surgery! I never have been good at disciplining myself about food. Yes, I'm sure a therapist would have a field day with that, but I'm not going! Know that you are normal and this is a bumpy ride for most of us, I'm sure. Hang in there, I know how you feel. Just keep trying is all I can say, because that's what I am having to do allllll the time. Good luck. Kelly

Looks like we are all in the same boat ! I too am a bad eater. I have found that if I "water load" ( drink lots of water) when I am hungry it kind of helps. I seem to keep myself in check when I am out but at home I have to watch what I am doing. I think hubby thinks I am eating too much also, he has made a couple comments about what I can eat. I have been trying to change , by eating fruit , nuts other than chips and such. If you figure something out let me know. My surgery was 9/28 and I feel like I am also a slow loser I am down about 80 pounds, it fluctuates daily 1/2 pounds daily. Sandy 321/242/200 ( for the time)

I know how you feel. I was doing the same thing and only lost 1 pound last month. I am getting serious again and I am eating fruit for snacks now. I was eating low carb snacks but you have to be carefull they are easy to eat to much of so I cut them out all together for awhile. I have lost 2 pounds so far this month, so hopefully I am back on track again. I have stopped weighting myself everyday. I am only going to weight myself once a week. Make sure you drink the water that helps a lot. Hang in there. Carol W

Maggie: This is the first post that I can truly relate to in a long time... I usually don't post much because I am so ashamed of my bad eating habits and no exercise returning. All I see when I look around are folks announcing how great they've done, and they do certainly deserve it. I'm just not one of them. I feel even more alone about my food and weight struggles NOW after surgery than before. Funny, it takes the mindset to "just do it" -- and I certainly didn't have that my whole life (for very long on any diet), but I'm supposed to have it now? Talk about a headtrip! sigh. I'm not looking foreward to seeing the surgeon in June-- who knows if I'll make it to the century club by then? Anyway, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. I appreciate your honesty -- you at least drew me out of the shadows to come in and post back. Good luck and take care, Shellie 290/196/150

morning Maggie... I thought it was just me! The hardest part of all of this is that I'm not eating the wrong foods and I'm still not losing weight My surgery was on 9/9 and I've lost 102 pounds .. YES that IS wonderful ... but I haven't lost anything in almost 2 months and it's driving me insane! I feel as tho I am failing the surgery. I exercise daily and I make sure I get all my protein...my water is a little lax at times but I do drink at least 30 oz a day. My surgeon tells me that just because I'm not losing pounds I am losing inches as long as I feel it in my clothes...I'm not really sure if I do or not I am seriously considering finding a therapist because just because my stomach was operated on my head is still the same Trust me...you're not alone in this little journey...we're all in this together! hugssssssss....Linda 300/198/140

Morning Maggie, as you can see from the others you are so not alone. I to was doing poorly. According to my surgeon, this process will continue for up to two years post op. So in the past weeks I want back to the beginning and started the eating stages over again. I was amazed at how all of a sudden I was full again. It was like I retrained my stomach to early post op. I started making the right choices and was able to get right back on track. I also started to measure my chest and waist- this has been dropping in size even if the pounds aren't coming off. good luck and keep at it. donna
