My 8 Month Report

Eight months ago today, right about this time, I was officially on the switched side - surgery over, waking up in recovery wondering why I couldn't lift my legs (that would be the anesthesia still wearing off) and forcing my big toe to move a la Kill Bill. That was 8 months and over 30,000 miles ago. My lowest weight this month was 176.4, but today it's 177.6 so that's what I'm going by. This makes for a total of 83 lbs since surgery. My high weight was 277, so this is also my entry into the Century Club, and puts me under BMI 35. I'm *finally* starting to lose big again around my apron and my belly button area, losing over 4" in each just since March. My arms haven't changed much if at all My legs, I am still losing and yes, that darn left calf has begun to shrink finally. Here are the numbers - inches lost since surgery: Neck: - 2 1/2" Armpit: -9 1/4" Bust: -10 5/8" (-1 1/2" since March, but I think it's back fat that's gone as my bra still fits) Underbust: -9 7/8" Roll above waist: -13 1/8" Belly Button: -15 1/4" (-4 1/4" since March) Apron: -11 7/8" (-4 1/8" since March) Under Apron: -7" Under Butt: -8" L Up Arm: -3 1/2" L Fore Arm: -1 3/4" L Wrist: -3/8" R Up Arm: -4" R Fore Arm: -2" R Wrist: -1/4" L Thigh: -6" L Knee: -3 1/2" L Calf: - 1 1/8" (7/8" of that just since MARCH) L Ankle: -1" R Thigh: -5 1/4" R Knee: -3 1/8" R Calf: -2 5/8" R Ankle: -1" Torso: -8" Wt loss: - 83lbs Blood work, cholesterol, and vitamins all look good. My PCP is restarting me on 50 mcg of Synthroid - half the dose I was on before surgery. And I'm in a pair of size 16 jeans. They are a little snug, but not uncomfortably so. I'm probably still officially a size 18 as I'm willing to wear jeans tighter than I am dress pants.

Congratulations! You are doing great. I didn't realilze but we are just one day apart - my eight month is tomorrow. It really doesn't seem like 8 months, and then again, it does. It's strange. My husband told me today that I 'look healthy'!! Now in the days when I was a teenager, this was not a good comment. It could only mean I looked fat!! But today, I took it as a compliment and was happy to hear that. Remember, the size of the clothes, the number on the scale, are just numbers. Yes, good for a guide, but to base our success on. Keep up the good work!! donna

Congradulations on eight months. I remember some of your posts even prior to my own surgery and you always seemed so organized and had things so together. I am eight months today March 16 and it is amazing what has happened in eight months. Enjoy it all> jacqueline

Thank you everyone Yeah, I do measure everything. *lol* If I could have figured out a way to measure a few other things, I probably would have (like my double chin ) --BT
