Well, it's been 8 months and I have lost 105 lbs! However, my breasts are still huge! Before surgery I was wearing a 46DDD, and now I am in a 40DDD My large breasts never bothered me before, but now I am in a constant state of agony in my upper back and I think it is because I have a smaller frame to hold these puppies. PLUS I have a panni and have been getting rashes undernearth the skin there AND in my belly button of all places I have a doctor appointment tomorrow because I really can't live much longer with this back pain. Anyone else going through this, and have you talked to your doctor about it yet? Or are you waiting?

I think your insurance company will pay for your breast reduction. There is no since in a person having to suffer with this. My daughter suffers with the DDD as well. and she is in constant back pain. I hope she will get a reduction as well. I send you all my well wishes. I thought I was big with a 44dd Now I am a 38c and I am looking at maybe getting a lift. Im not sure I want to go thru this. Hugs Barb

Talk to your doctor & get it documented, especially the rashes & the pain part. These two factors will help support your insurance claim, if you do have plastic surgery, as they will demonstrate that there is a medical reason for having reconstructive surgery, and that it's not (just) a cosmetic procedure.

Hi Jan, I am thinking of going to Brazil!! I hear there are very good doctors and care there. I'm with you, my neck needs help, and my stomach, but I can hide my arms, my thighs, and my bum. No one sees those things. That's right - NO ONE. Not even my husband!! Don't let him. It grosses me out, it would him too. OH, and my breasts, I'm just going to get a bra from Victoria's Secret. That's it. What have you heard about Costa Rica -- love donna

Donna, Let me know what you find out. I need a breast lift and my teeth worked on. If I can save money. That would be a plus Thanks Hugs Barb

Shannon, I have lots of excess skin on my belly & thigh regions and my chest size is considerably larger than yours... I plan on having plastic surgery at some point. It is my understanding that it is better to wait until you are 18 months to 2 years post op before having reconstructive surgery because at that point you are unlikely to lose large amounts of weight again....also, your blood vessels are no longer as large as they were when you were so overweight, so the surgery is safer. I do plan on seeing a surgeon at my 1 year anniversary to talk about the surgeries I want and what is realistic, but I really do not believe I will have surgery until 18 months to 2 years out. Good Luck and keep us up to date on your decisions! ~~em

Shannon, Like Black Thorn said, make sure you document any rashes with pictures. Make sure your doctor sees them too. The more info you have, the more you have to submit to insurance to get them to pay. My surgeon (WLS) told me that they like people to wait on any plastic surgery until all of the weight loss is done. Usually at 18 mos out. But, everyone is different. I've never had to suffer from big breasts (wasn't in my genes) but when I was at my heaviest and my boobs were all fat, I did have upper back pain. SO, I can sympathize with you. I'v'e also had friends that have had breast reduction because of what you're going through and they've all thanked the day when they had it because it changed their lives forever. Good luck to you and keep us posted to your decisions. Remember to take those pix! paula

Thank you all for your replies! I'm sure I won't be able to get anything done about the boobs and tummy yet, but I wanted to start a chain of documentation now so that in 6 months or a year I have solid proof of my problems. And I'll so make sure to start taking pics (ewwww LOL)! RNY 9/14/06 280/175/140

Just an update, I saw the doc yesterday and he agrees that a breast reduction and tummy tuck are in my future, but he is having me go to a physical therapist first.
