Topic: RE: Gastric bypass revision.......
I am sure you are not alone.... I wish you all the best!
I lost 110 lbs and had gained back 12lbs but now am up 8lbs... I am really working on not eating sweets... that is my biggest problem. I too can eat w/out dumping, wish those days were back. I never was a big dumper, but I would start to feel very very ill.
Rather than feel terrible I too would consider a revision if it got to that point. You do what feels right for you.

Topic: Gastric bypass revision.......
Hello all,.
I had surgery in Sept. 2004. I'm thinking of a revision on 5/04 because I am able to eat far too much, I can eat sweets and snack w/o dumping!
Original lost 80lbs, but have gained back 25. My surgeon is suggesting a smaller pouch thru revision. Has anyone done this or amI all alone here?

I hope and pray that I too can get back on track!
Best wishes.

Tema,
Thanks for responding. What did the surgeon do in the revision? Did he make the pouch smaller or bypass more intestine? Did your insurance cover the revision? Sorry for all the questions.

I never reached goal weight and stopped losing and actually starting gaining...This of course I know was all my fault...I decided to would talk to the surgeon and he agreed to try and help me again by doing the revision....I'm very grateful for the second chance....Yes i used the same surgeon

Tema,
Why did you have to have a revision? I had my surgery 2 days after your first surgery. Did you use the same surgeon?

Hello all it's been a long time since I posted. I had my first surgery on 9/27/04 and just had a revision on March 21st this year and so far so good I have lost 14lbs in one week. The revision was neccessary before I failed myself on the first surgery but I have rededicated myself to being healthy

Topic: RE: B12 and Iron problems
Sharon,
I take sublingual B-12 and so far my levels are great. I try to keep my B-12 above 1000. You need to get copies of all your blood work. I have mine in an Excel speadsheet. Then I can watch the trends. If it is still in normal range but dropping, I up my dose.
My ferritin is low so I take iron. I take Tender Iron by vitalady.com. They are tablets but I chew them and they taste good. It is very important to watch your ferritin levels as this is your iron stores. I try to keep mine above 50 and closer to 100. My last ferritin test said my level was 35 so I increased my Tender Iron. I read that we should not take ferrous sulfate as it can irritate the pouch. Tender Iron is carbonyl iron.
Good luck!
