Topic: RE: I HAVE A PS DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Manda I have the "exact" same question as Pam. If your insurance is covering the PS did you have to have documentation of the necessity for the plastics? I was told not to even consider the surgery until we are out 18 months. I would love to have a TT. Please share this accomplishment with all of us who are hoping to have PS. Thanks Marianne

Topic: The Anniversary of MY NEW LIFE!
Hello to all my Fellow Losers! I am happy to announce that TODAY is my 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of becoming a Loser! I feel wonderful and have lost a total of 115 lbs. I am trying to lose another 5-10 lbs and just hope I can achieve my final goal. I feel like a school girl again. I would do this again in a heartbeat! Dr Adaniel and his Assistant Judy are two wonderful people and will be commended for giving me a new chance of a new thinner life for the rest of my days. My only regret is that I did not have this surgery sooner. Now to maintain and not gain! I want to also thank all of you for keeping me on track, helping me get through the bad times and celebrate with me during the happy times. You all have my thanks and continued gratitude God Bless you all! Hugs Marianne 265/150/140

Topic: What a ride!!
My one year anniversary was last Saturday. What a ride it has been! I have lost (to date) 142 lbs...yeah!! I have lost over 97"....yeah! I went from a size 28 pants to a 14...wow, not since 8th grade have I fit into a size 14! Most people have been extremely supportive. This past Monday in fact I ran accross the first non-supportive person..and it was a stranger. We both go to the same chiro and she overheard me and the secretary talking and asked me why I didn't just put my fork down. I couldn't believe it. Now, gee....why didn't any of us think of that, huh? All in all though, people have been fantastic. What hasn't been? Me. My body. I feel like I am trying to be a walking encyclopedia of the complications of RNY. Here they are (so far): 14 EGD's 12 strictures 3 ulcers 2 perforations 1 revision The latest? Possibly an internal hernia/aka kinky bowel syndrome. One thing about it though...stomach may hurt, but I am back down to eating ~2 oz per meal. Does it increase my weight loss? Nope. My weight has been staying pretty stable due to my thyroid konking out post-op and the dosage not being quite right yet. All that said, I would DEFINATELY do it again. I have a goal of 140 lbs. I get on the right dosage of synthroid and get this latest pain problem taken care of, I really feel like I will be there before I know it. I know all of you *****ad on this board had your surgery about the same time I did. Congrats to each of you. I'm sure looking back, the thought that goes through your mind also is 'what a ride!'.... Topic: One Year Ago
Last year this time I was the surgery that would change my life and start me on my journey to a new me. At that time I had no idea of the enormous effect that my decision to have WLS would have on my life and that of my family. Everyone has gotten healthier, we all exercise, and we are all label readers now. I am thankful that I had the surgery when I did b/c I don't think I would have the energy that I have now as I care for my Mom since her stroke. I am also very thankful for Dr.Shawn Garber and the staff at the New York Bariatric Group for all they did to help me in my journey from the very onset in July 2004. I must admit that I am very proud of myself and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Topic: My One Year Update!
Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of my surgery. I also saw my surgeon yesterday for my one-year check-up. What an amazing year it's been! I can barely remember the person that I was a year ago. She was at a standstill watching others live their lives, a spectator in a manner of speaking. The new me races through each day at breakneck speed with abundant enthusiasm and joy. Right now I weigh 138 pounds, having lost 130 pounds from my pre- surgery weight of 268. My labs are all in the normal range and I feel fantastic. I thank God every day for giving me the strength and guidance to choose this surgery. It has changed my life in countless ways. I want to go on record and say that I owe my success to the fact that I FOLLOWED MY DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS! It's as simple as that! I followed the 70/30 diet and avoided bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, beans, and fruit. I drank lots of water, took all my vitamins, and exercised! That's it! Guess what? It works! I am living proof. Now, I'm not going to tell you that I never cheated . . . of course I did, I'm human! But it was seldom and always for something very worthwhile, LOL! I have become very picky about what I put in my mouth because I AM WORTH IT! I also want to thank each and every one of you who has inspired and encouraged me on this message board. Your role in my personal journey has helped me immeasurably! My next big challenge is my hernia repair/extended abdominoplasty/breast reduction-lift on November 22. Please keep me in your prayers. XO, Sandy

Topic: ONE YEAR- UNREAL
Woke up this morning and relived my morning a year ago--- when I weighed 350 pounds!!!! I am in DC for an extended government school and had fun the other day popping into the Pentagon where they hadn't seen me in over a year... Talk about an ego booster!!! I am down 147 pounds today and feel wonderful. Congratulations for ALL of us on this journey- yes it is a "head game" especially as far as men are concerned but I have already discovered that being heavy and having them stay away from me so i could "observe" has helped me alot on this side!!! During this class we have to give a speech on "something" I will start mine with a picture of me "before" and will make the statement "This woman did not come to this class" and see if they realize it is a much larger version for ME!!!! Also the only "before" bit of clothing I have kept is my coat from Germany (I live in Hawaii now so it was lost in the back of my closet) and now i can put me and a "normal" size person in it with me... Think I will do that during my speech also--- visuals are important!!!! HAPPY ANNIVESARY TO US ALL---- Victoria
