Topic: RE: Help with My Hair
I am just offering tidbits that have helped me... I don't know you specifically so don't know if this might help.
Coloring your hair fries it. Depending on the strength of it and how expertly it is done might mitigate some of the damage but it still is harsh to your hair. That being said lets move on to other things...
I have noticed that when I started taking my Omega 3's (essential oils) that my skin, hair and nails really benefitted. Of course the change is NOT going to happen overnight but it did occur. I also take Biotin (OTC) B-12 sublingual, Calcium Supps, multivitamin supps and was as a laundry list of other vitamins.
I lost a slew of hair at about the 4-5 months range and it was a little unnerving. It has since stopped and started to regrow (I'm 13 months Post WLS)....
Let us know if any of these things help out! Best Wishes...

ello' again...just on a different board! (for everyone else here...Teresa and I also reside on the MISSOURI BOARD!...
Watch those carbs my dear. I was on the plateau from HADES.. and I was doing much like you are doing...the scale wasn't budging. I started logging back into fitday and saw that my carb intake was a bit higher than my protein intake. I nailed that down fast.
This info. was also supported by my PCP. She said that for most folks (not just those having WLS) you HAVE to get your carb intake under your protein intake if you want to loose weight. It has paid off. Since I started doing this I have lost 9 lbs.! How cool is that? Before the scale was not budging...now it is changing almost everyday....
Up your water intake and get those carbs under control. As suggested in a previous post.. I know that I will not crave carbs if I am making the choice for a dense protein first. Good advice!

Topic: RE: One Year Today
Sorry - just noticed this post...but YES, I have noticed I can eat more though I do watch what I eat. I still stay away from carbs but notice sometimes graze and sometimes eat candy. But I still pretty much try to eat a little bit and sometimes not enough. A revision is not in my future! Myweight has remained the same which is frustrating but im having some stresses about moving out of my apt to another and not focused on my exercise regime as much as possible but still do a bit..it's a lifelong process to continue to work at it..i think about food, exercise etc more than ever you know being careful more than anything.
Topic: RE: Lightweights and TT Surgery
I was considered a lightweight and although I have hanging skin, it's nothing like some have, so I've decided that a good pair of Spanx is going to be FAR easier, effective, cheaper and less painful than a lower body lift, which would be the procedure I'd have.
It would be so nice to have my rear end ON my rear end, instead of down the back of my thighs, where it currently is, but I did this to myself and with the help of Spanx, I'll pull it up, somehow!!!
I haven't heard of many people getting PS covered, and I would think we lightweights wouldn't have much hope.
I wish you luck, though!!

Topic: Lightweights and TT Surgery
Hi Everyone
Have any of you WLS Lightweights been able to get your TT surgery covered through your insurance? Since we went into this surgery just by the skin of our "scales" and most likely most of you like me, do not present with unusual body rashes etc. what are OUR chances of insurance covering this surgery to remove "OUR" unwanted extra tummy flab? I desperately want a flatter tummy since I do have hanging stomach flab but was told that it will probably NOT be covered by insurance because I do not have any sores, rashes etc. I am insured through Empire Gov't/ NYSHIP. Any feedback on this one?
Thanks a bunch!
Hugs

I agree with what Beth suggested, especially the protein issue. Try mixing up your protein and eating it instead of drinking it! Also, when I was doing Weigh****chers, a good way to break a plateau was to switch up the calories. For a couple of days, eat plenty and for a couple of days, eat at the bottom of your calories, but of course make sure you get your protein in first. I think using Fitday.com to track EXACTLY what you're consuming is a great idea.
You're really doing it all right and the weight will move again, but I understand it's frustrating to have to wait!!

Topic: RE: The new me (post PS)
Hi!
COngrats on your PS. I am just thinking about having it done if I can get my insurance company to pay. Any advice/help with the letters needed would be GREATLY appreciated! I have lost 112 pound so far and I am also in my 5th month of a pregnancy. I hope to reach goal after baby is born in Feb. or March. I am about 25-30 lbs shy of ideal weight. I plan on nursing, so I probably won't do it until summer, as I teach and it would be more convienent to do it then. Any advice/insight you have as to how to deal with my insurance company would be wonderful!
Thanks so much!
Sherry
Topic: RE: Any solution to a sensitive issuse?
Have you tried the maximum strength Gas-X chewables, they seem to work best for me. Good luck with your dinner.
Topic: Any solution to a sensitive issuse?
A few weeks ago I started to have an issuse with gas. I have not changed my diet lately. I have tried Beniful, beno, and some other gas pills, I tried increasing my fiber, and am avoiding most veggies.
The only thing I can come up with is, since my surgery I have not been able to tolerate plane water, I started drinking smar****er(it contains some basic electrolytes) I think this as the culprit is pretty slim.
Any one else have this problem and a different solution to try, I have a dinner to go to and don't know what to do?

Still waiting for an interview appointment. There are several positions in different departments being interviewed. They just haven't gotten around to the Business Ed department. Will keep you posted,
