Topic: Does This Count Toward My WATER Intake?
Today I tried something fifferent, to try and cut back on my calorie and sugar intake. I made my protein shake with 3 cups of water and 1 1/2 scoops of protein to equal 30 grams of protein. Now, can I count this protein drink as 24 oz of water toward my daily water intake? I am hoping the answer is yes.

Topic: RE: WLS & Shopaholics
Hi. My name is Sherri and I'm a Shopaholic.
I used to hate going into stores except Christmas shopping for others or other special occasions...like shopping for new grand babies.
Then I had WLS. My life changed. I would buy 5-6 pairs of jeans in the size I was in and 1 pair in the next size down. 1-2 months later, when the next size down fit, I was doing it again. I also realized I was accessory deprived. I have about 5-6 jackets now. Where I use to have 1 pair of tennis shoes and 1 pair of sandals, I now have about 20 pairs of shoes/boots. I have found a love for belts (about 12 of them) and hats (5). My sock drawer is stuffed with patterned socks for any clothing I could think of to wear (gotta match!). My underwear drawer is equally stuffed. I could not wash clothes for 2 months and still have clean panties! Bra's is another story. Kinda hard to fit the girls right now so I have my few favorites and about 6 more that just don't quite fit the bill.
I do participate in the clothing exchanges. I've given away unopened package of panties (see? WAY too many of them!!). So...who suffers from my shopping? Just my credit cards from what I can tell.
For myself, I'm not a Catalog queen. Oh no, not I. I have to be able to see, touch, and fall in love to buy! LOL!
Hmmm...wonder if there's a 12 step program out there....or perhaps that's just called 'finance charges'.....

Topic: RE: Feeling Depressed and FAT!
Marianne,
One thing that helps me with hunger is protein shakes. I mix 1 and 1/2 scoops of protein powder with 5 ozs of water and 4 ice cubes. I blend in my Magic Bullet. I drink 2 shakes a day and am trying to do 3 per day. Also I don't drink any milk. I use a small amount of coffee mate in my morning coffee. I really don't feel hunger. My problem is I have been slacking off on my exercise. I need to get back in the habit.

Marianne,
I am right there with you. However, it sounds like from your menu that you are making even healthier choices than I am. I still get the full sensation alot quicker and I still eat way less than I did prior to the surgery. But I fear that my eating habits are stretching my stomach. I also fear that my old habits and my "old head" of emotinal eating habits is taking over again. I dream about gaining weight and I still don't make the right choices all the time. I with that I something great to tell you to help. But, I don't. Maybe just to let you know you are not in this alone.

Topic: WLS & Shopaholics
I was just wondering if since WLS any of you have turned into real heavy shopaholics? I have become the "CATALOG QUEEN"-----> BIG TIME!

Think I may need to join SA--Shopaholics Annonymous! It is kinda scary though!
Topic: Feeling Depressed and FAT!
This past week I have been feeling bloated and FAT! I had an appointment with my WLsurgeon last Friday and gained 2 lbs since my last visit, but not too depressed over that because it was a morning appointment last time and a late afternoon appointment this time. What I am feeling depressed about is the fact that I feel like I am always hungry. Today I ate:
B- 1 cup multigrain cheerios and 1/4 c of 1% milk
S- 2 string cheeses
L-shrimp salad on a plate with tomatoes
S- BAD Choice--Pringles
later on I had a protein shake made with Skim Plus
D-2 fish sticks and 1/4 c of mac and cheese
68 oz of water
The scale does not show it but I feel like I look like I am putting on some weight. Everyone tells me I look the same and don't look like I am gaining and that I look great but I feel like I look like I did before WLS as well as that real bloated feeling. Is this a normal feeling??? The other night I had a dream that I GAINED ALL MY PRE OP WEIGHT BACK...Woke up in a panic and then releived it was just a bad dream, but since then I have been feeling the way I do physically and mentally.

Topic: RE: Hi September buds!!!!
Hey Hey Miss Sue Boo! I have not been on the boards in months but have thought about you and all my other obesityhelp friends often! So nice to catch up on what's goin' on. I promise to check in more often if you guys and gals do too!!!
I hit my goal of mid to high 120's by one year anniversary and had tummy tuck, breast reduction, and massive hernia repair in November. I took 4 weeks off and am so insanely happy with the results. I am a perky 34C (NO implants, just reduction and lift) and my tummy is flat flat flat. I'm in 4's and 6's in pants and skirts and smalls on top. Even my shoe size went from 8 1/2 to 7 1/2!
I couldn't work out for 12 weeks after reconstructive surgery so just did alot of walking. Now I'm back to working out almost every day. I go to my neighborhood gym at 5 am. I have to be home by 6 am with the kiddies cuz that's when hubby leaves for work. Then I get the kids off to school and I leave for work. Fortunately I'm home by 3 in the afternoon. I actually have more energy all day from working out early AND most importantly I make way better food choices when I work out early. Before I put something in my mouth I think twice about do I really want to undo all the hard work I did so early in the morning??? The answer is sometime yes (!) but usually it's "no!"
All in all, I've been maintaining but I know it will always be a struggle. I am somewhat addicted to food and even though I have drastically and permanently changed my eating habits I still fight urges each and every day and probably always will.
I still start each day with a protein shake, I love the IDS powder, especially the belgian chocolate and cappuccino. I mix it in the blender with 1/2 a banana or a cup of strawberries or blueberries and water and ice cubes. A big filling shake to start the day and get 26 grams of protein in. I try and take all my vitamins. Most days I succeed, some days I fall short with the calcium. I still try not to eat after 8 pm. That's key for me.
Gotta run, SO great to hear from you! LOVE, Sandy
