Topic: Still taking protein?
How many of you guys are still doing a protein shake? At 17 months should we still be doing protein? I stopped about 3 months ago because I had plateaued. I dropped 10 months over the last three months but now I'm plateauing more and I'm MUCH hungrier and unfortunately can eat much more. Any suggestions pro or con the protein? I had been doing the liquid protein in Crystal Light every morning. I was getting about 36 grams of protein. I guess I could just start it again and see. Appreciate any insight.

Topic: Not a Stricture
I just wanted to update everyone with my situation since I had posted that I thought or they said I had a stricture. After a couple of tests which all turned out to be normal my doc prescribed Reglan and said to also take Milk of Magnesia after complaining that after the endoscopy procedure I had - I was feeling nauseated and throwing up at every meal. I have since discovered that the Reglan is for something called Gastroparesis. It happens to people that were or are diabetes and the stomach contents don't empty out or are delayed in emptying out. When the emptying of the stomach doesn't occur the food that is processed can even rot in the stomach and cause severe pain...if this is what was happening before that is where my previous pain was happening. It's good to know what may have been happening - since taking the medication I'm feeling much better and on the road to recovery. Though the drug causes drowsiness but that's something I can live with til I'm completely better. Whatever it was - I'm GLAD I'm better!!! Thanks to all those that responded to my previous post!

Topic: RE: Feeling Depressed and FAT!
Bless your heart!! Isn't it funny that after ALL we've been through and ALL that we've lost, we still "feel fat"? That is just WRONG!! LOL Unfortunately, we are STILL women and we STILL have hormones that affect our moods. I'm guessing that "this too shall pass". Hope it already has!! Blessings, Pam

Not to mention that our family will have plenty of clothes to choose from for our burial! Paper or plastic? Plastic, definately plastic! Gotta save the 'paper' for my Starbuck's Venti Decaf Latte with skim milk and SF Vanilla! (another post-op new habit!!!). Sherri

Topic: RE: Possible stricture at 17 months
Ruth, My heart goes out to you. Hang in there and hopefully this will pass. I just had the 911 thing also. Terrible pain, vomiting etc. I have had two episodes. Last Friday I had laproscopic abd. surgery. The problem was a small bowel obstruction. All my test were negative MRI, CT,ERCT( MRI of the biliary system) scope etc. My surgeon said he was fairly sure this was my problem as he has seen it before. So far I'm sore from surgery but not trouble eating or going to the bathroom. Please know you are in my prayers and be patience with yourself. I love pickled beets and keep a jar made up in refrigerator(is that soft enough) also pumpkin casserole is good made with spleenda. I'm trying to think of things you may not have tried.... Greetings Fellow ADDICTS! I am glad I am NOT alone on this one! It is also a very rewarding feeling to know that we will ALL be in the POOR HOUSE TOGETHER or MURDERED by our spouses or significant others which ever may come first, but at least we will all die with a very satisfying and content smile on our faces! Hugs & HAPPY SHOPPING! C-h-a-r-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-e It! Marianne

Hi, my name is Pam and I too, am a Shopaholic. Because of my "limited resources" I shop at Garage Sales and Goodwill, but nevertheless, I SHOP!!! I think that I have exchanged one obsession for another!! They know me on a first name basis at Goodwill and a couple of the local consignment shops!!! I did buy the CUTEST dress Saturday at a garage sale-- it is a size s/m. I cannot BELEIVE that I can actually wear it, but I can and it is not even tight!!! I still cannot wear many different styles of shoes, but I have LOTS of other clothes. Do you think that we will "get over" this when we "settle" into a size? I'm not sure, but I am there with you!!!!! Blessings, Pam

Marianne, What I was told was that for a beverage to count as 'water', it has to be calorie free (or extremely low...like Cystal Light) and caffiene free. Since protein shakes have calories, my guess would be no, it doesn't count toward your water intake. Sorry. Sherri
