Hi Shannon...Congrats again on the pregnancy. I would be very happy to answer all questions you have. I gained 30 lbs in this pregnancy. It was very difficult for me to watch the scales go up. I was at the same exact weight as you (167) and now I weigh 171 and my Lilly is 5 weeks old. I do nurse, not sure if thats a plus, because they say it helps lose weight, but I am starving ALL the time because of it...lol. I didn't gain anything until I was about 6 months. Then it was in huge amounts. For example, I had gained nothing, then three weeks later I had gained 12 lbs. The only crazy thing that happened to me that they really thought was because the WLS, was I became hypoglycemic. I would experience these crazy episodes where my bottom lip would turn numb (I know....crazy) and I would get very hot, then my hands would start to shake and I would become ravenous...(I mean I could have eaten someone's arm). Finally, I told my OB about it and they sent me home with a little finger ***** monitor, and sure enough, my blood sugars were dropping into the 30s when these would happen. I was put on a diet of mostly carbs. I would have to eat 35 carbs every 2 hours. Thats why I think I gained so much weight. Honestly, I have not tried to lose anything, it just came off. I also had WLS in September of 2004. Please let me know if there's anything else you want to know. I am SUPER happy for you, I know you have been TTC for a while.
BTW...Check out our family website. Lilly's is actually the only update . Hubby plans on getting to it soon. The "most recent family picture on the front page was actually taken in 2003, pre WLS. LOL
Take care..and please keep me posted!

geeze, it's amazing how fast a pregnancy can go by when it isn't your own. LOL
Best wishes to you and your new little baby girl. She seems perfect and her weight is great. When you figure out how to post pictures make sure you do cause I can't wait to see what she looks like. We just found out on Monday that I am expecting our second child. I am happy but just want to get through the first doctors appointment, make sure everything is ok and then I will be able to breathe. I am not as scared this time around as I was with my first pregnancy. Not to mention at the time of her birth I was 333 pounds. I am 167 at the start of this pregnancy so that in and of itself is a good thing.
Just a question, don't have to answer if you don't want to. How much weight did you gain? How long before you started putting on the weight? Is it coming off now that your little girl is here? Did they treat you different at your doctors office since you had gastric bypass surgery? I have a list of questions I wrote down to ask my surgeon and my OBGYN. I am sure I left out some but hopefully they answer what I haven't even thought of.
Thanks for any info you can give me...

Amybee,
I know how you feel, and I am searching through here looking for someone having the same problem, and I came across your post. Thank you so much for sharing. That helped me just reading that I was not alone. I too understand what I am doing wrong, I just need to remotivate myself. I had surgery on 9/30/04 and have lost about 111 lbs. I want to lose about 30 more, but right now, being hung at this one point scares me so bad! Maybe we can encourage one another. Thanks again for sharing.

I'm a little late on the response but I've just started back with incorporating a protein supplement once or twice a day in addition to my meals and my weight has just started coming off again. I was told for my 5'7" frame that I should be getting about 85 grams of protein a day so that is what I am striving for. I picked up some great protein at Bariatriceating.com (Matrix - makes the best hot chocolate and it mixes with water, achieveone like a cold coffee and protein delite - I like all their flavors but the chocolate coconut is great). They also have a rock'n'rollin protein bar that is high in protein but a lot lower in calories than the ones you can buy locally. Since incorporating my protein I have dropped 7.5 lbs in a week where I hadn't lost anything in many, many months prior to that. Good luck. Protein rocks.

Sherri - you have done fantastic. Your story with your ailments sounds so much like mine. I am so happy to be off all my meds, down 120 lbs with still about another 20-30 to go. I'm with you on the endos - far more than I want to remember but in the end all is well and life is great. Good luck to you
Topic: PS after WLS
Just wondering if any of you have had a TT done under NYS Empire Gov't Insurance? If so, how long did you have to wait for approval and was it covered 100%?
Sitting anxiously on pins and needles because this will also determine if I will be working in Summer School this summer or recooperating from surgery.
Thanks for the response.
