Topic: Here I go again...
My 6 months was up on St. Patty's day and I met my goal I had. Right now, I'm at 107 lbs down. That's the terrific news. In the past 4 months, I have had 6 endo's with strictures each time (the last time, I was down to only 4 mm). Ulcers was found during 2 of those endo's. And the last 2 endo's also brought perforations. From all the closing-up/dilate-open/close-up, etc, the connection has gotten thin and is splitting when they try to do an endo now. So...on April 8th, I will be going in for a revision so that they can move the intestine (minus the worn-out, scarred-over tissue) to a new location on the pouch. I will be starting at square 1 with the food. I am trying to tell myself that the time will just fly by. LOL! On the plus side, I hear that a revision usually jump-starts the weight loss some more. I'm still losing now, but I heard that it's normal to lose about 20 lbs the first month after a revision. Wow! If that won't take me alot closer to being under 200 by Memorial Day! LOL! I have no regrets about having the surgery to start with. 107 lbs down? I'd be nuts to! No, not crazy about needing a revision, but worse things have happened to others, so I'm thankful that it's something that can be fixed.

Thanks so much. You are great. I needed to hear that. I'll take average anyday. I hope the dr said everything was great with you.

Topic: Is this normal?
I am proud of my weight loss and I can get into size 14 pants. I was just wondering is my weight loss normal for being six months out? I started at 279 when I first met my surgeon. I weighed 261 leaving the hospital and I now weigh 183. I am grateful for this surgery and I have not weighed this weight since before I was pregnant with our first child. I sometimes think I am slow on losing weight but other times I am still happy that I have lost. I know I am not on a plateu.(sp?) but I still think I am slow at losing weight. I have heard I am considered a 'lite weight' when I started but I was still wondering about others at the same time out.

I hear ya Sandy... I have my ups and downs with all this too. Your post helped me tonight because I too have been feeling like I've been lax about a few things lately. I am scared I am stretching my pouch and I know I am eating more calories than I should be. I pop way too many "tastes" of things into my mouth. Some days I am so worried and other days I feel ok about everything. It sounds like you are working really hard and doing really well. Try not to be too hard on yourself. I agree we need to maximize this time and learn the best habits possible to have the best results long term. Thank you for sharing about this. I'm sorry you've been a bit low this week, but know that many of us are experiencing this and we understand. (((hugs)))) we can do it!
Love,
Sue

Tina,
I think we can do it if we don't let down our guard. If we don't keep careful watch on things, then we can lose track of how much we are eating and stall out our weight. On the other hand, if we stay diligent with eating the right things and keeping the wrong ones to a minimum, plus staying active as much as we can, then we can achieve everything we want! You are doing great, enjoy your success. We've lost about the same amount (and we aint done yet!!!) I believe we will reach our goals because we care enough to be on this site regularly learning and sharing what it takes to make that happen.
Love,
Sue

You will make it. There is a lady at my weight loss meetings who is almost 2 years out and still has 25 pounds to go till she makes her goal. She looks amazing. Your doing great and seem right on track. Best wishes and keep your chin up.

hi,
i just had my 6 month checkup today and i looked at the chart my surgeon has re expected weight loss - i was only looking at the part that concerned me - people who started at 300 - 400 #'s (i started at 325). in 6 months, the expected weight loss is 60 - 80 #'s.
you started at under 300 so i think your expected loss would be that range or a bit lower.
so, girl - you are right on target!!!
