I'm officially 2 years out asnd for the most part doing well, but I am stressing b/c I gained 7 pounds and that fear of being obese resurfaced immediately. Has anyone else had this experience? Am I stressing myself unnecessarily? Any input will be helpful. Thanks

Karen, Happy anniversary to you also! I am sorry to hear that your doctor has shut down his practice. Have you tried calling the phone number to see if there is a message? Did you receive a letter from the practice? You need to keep up with your yearly lab tests. Maybe your PCP can order them. One of the things that helps me not to eat bad things is to not keep bad snacks in the house. My sons are grown and no longer live with us. My hubby is trying to lose weight so he agrees with me on only having healthy snacks in the house. Also I don't drink any milk. Since I take my calcium I don't need the milk with its calories and carbs. Also I drink 3 protein shakes every day made with water and ice. They really fill me up. Good luck with getting back on track! Lynn J., lap RNY 9/29/04 306/146/135 5' 4"

Hi all. My name is Karen and I had WLS 2 years ago today!! How time has passed so quickly. The first year plus my weight just slipped out from under me .. it was great and quite the honeymoon as they say. I went from 310 at surgery to 155 and from a 32 size to 14-16 which makes me "normal" at last in sizes!! I am really thrilled. Now comes the difficult part to admit; I have started regaining some and I don't like it. But I don't seem to be able to stop it. I know, I know, it is up to me to control my "head hunger" and get back to the program ... and I am really trying but can do much better. I need to write out what I eat again, get back to measuring my 1/2 cup and cut out the snacks and crap food ... sound familiar? Anyway, I wanted to celebrate my 2 year anniversary and, except for the cloud of starting again, I am really really happy with the past two years and my changes. Can anyone relate? By the way, on my 2 year WLS anniversary there was an article today about the WISH center closing down suddenly in Renton, Washington, which is where I had my WLS and my doctors. I feel bad about this, a little scared because my physical support system may be gone, but especially bad for those people who had scheduled WLS with them and were shut out when the doctors stopped returning phone calls. Also, for those poor people who just had WLS with them and need their post-op checks, etc. I am supposed to have my 2 year check up now but that's off I guess; even so, that's not as much of a problem as for newer people. Take care all and Happy Anniversary to us All!! Karen Thompson Renton, WA

Just wanted to say my anniversary was 9/14 and so far I have lost 140 lbs and am about 5 lbs from where the doctor wants me before I go in for my tummy tuck. For the past 7 months I have upped my protein to 80-90 grams a day, I normally get that in by incorporating one protein shake (my favorite is Achieve One they taste like ice coffee). Since doing this I started losing my weight again and dropped 25 more lbs. My energy has returned, hair and skin glow and I like myself again. Not looking forward to plastic surgery but know that it needs to be done as I am having back aches and tummy problems from excess skin. Wish I didn't waint as long as I did to call and get an appointment as I can't get in to see my plastic surgeon of choice until 7/07. I'm signing up for Curves as we just closed our pool so I keep my exercise going and look forward to each new day with a smile. Wishing you all the same. Take care.

Armena First off, I love your name! Very close to my middle name~ Armen. Congratulations on your success! I loved looking at your profile and seeing your faith in God woven throughout every thing you do. Like you, I feel so very blessed. Like you, I realize the battle will never truly be over. But I feel like we at least have a true chance to succeed each and every day now that we've been given this gift. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with all of us!! ~Sue

Hey Elizabeth! Congrats on your anniversary! You look wonderful! I can relate to loosening of the standards, and the bit of weight gain, I think it is probably normal, as long as it doesnt pass this point. I will join you in getting back to basics and recomitting to doing what we know is necessary for our health. I'm also going to act like a mama here and tell you TAKE THOSE VITAMINS!! I keep mine next to the computer, I munch them when I check my email or surf the net. It helps me that mine are chewable, almost like eating a few sweet tarts or something. Keep up the good work and stay in touch! ~Sue

Happy Anniversary, September 2004 WLS Hey everybody, I hope life has been treating you well. Well I'm pleased to say that God has blessed me through another birthday (9/06) and my two year WLS birthday (9/7/04). It has truly been exciting. WLS has been like an amusement park, the food rollercoaster, the diet maze, and the house of horrors, the scale. I can tell you one thing whoever said WLS is the easy way out should walk a day in my shoes (or any other person who has had WLS). I will never regret having surgery it has changed my life for the better. My health is much better, my esteem is up and I am more conscious of my eating habits. I have learned that the secret to losing and maintaining weight is to being real with your self, taking responsibilities for your actions and letting things go, but most of all, temperance. I look at my body as a gift now, something that needs to be cherished. I only have one and if I mess this one up, I can't get another one. The way I see it God has enough to do, I don't want to make things harder by deliberately not taking care of myself. So I'm saying all this to say, I'm glad I made it through 2 years and to pray to make it through many more. I wish everybody who has been through WLS the best and welcome those to follow. Take care and enjoy! Armena, post-op 9/7/04

Topic: Hi Everyone!
Last friday was my 2 year anniversary and I'm happy to say that I am doing well. I have to admit that I am not as strict as I used to be, but over all i try to stick to my good eating habbits. I am 145 i have gained back about 5-7lbs which isn't to bad i'm still at a good weight for my height and in the normal range. I'm still wearing some size 4 for but mainly size 6 and i feel great. I dont' do so well anymore with taking my vitiams which i know is bad. And my exercising has diminished a lot. But over all I know what I have to do and I'm going to get back to basics just to feel better. I hope everyone is doing well and congratulations to all on your anniversaries. Elizabeth
