Hi Jamie I went out of country for my Roux-en-y and at my consultation with the surgeon I never got a surgery date but at that time I also hadnt been approved for sugery yet. The Barix clinic called me the day OHIP faxed my approval forms to them and thats when I got the date. Are you still trying for out of country or are you staying in Ontario? Tracy

I did, but I was OOC in 2004, before OHIP changed their process to a "staged" approval system. Karen G

Hi Jamie, Dr. Starr used to give his surgery dates at your first consultation, but now you have to see the dietician, social worker and internist before you get your date. His waiting list is probably still under a year, unlike other surgeons in Ontario. Heather

I believe Dr. L looks at each case individually and assesses whether he thinks the patient is likely to be approved by OHIP, and if he feels OHIP will approve, his office schedules the date. (This is just my opinion.) I got my date at my consultation, and my approval from OHIP came two weeks later. Dawn

Thanks, I've been thinking this for quite a while and never really said it to anyone. :-0 I'm coming to really love all the people in this group and feel it's ok to talk about anything. I was hoping to get an appointment with my GP this week, however, she is away, I don't want to see someone I don't know, so I'll have to wait till she comes back in 2 weeks. I had insominia last light, finally went to sleep at 5am and had to be up at 7:30 am to go for work. When I cam home tonight, I napped for 1/2 hr and wide awake again. I have so much going on at work, so much going in my mind about WLS, few personal problems with hubby and me, but that'll smooth out (24 years married) and on and on and on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, no wonder my brain won't stop. So I felt the best place to get feelings out is to type away to all of you great people. Thanks for your understand and I'll keep in touch. Best wishes to everyone.
