Hi fellow Sep 04'ers- haven't been on for awhile because I have been in a 4 month leadership school in DC. I am in my last month and need to write a research paper- and mine will be on weight loss and attitudes at work. So my question is- have any of you noticed a difference at work since you have had great success with your weight loss? Good or not so good- would appriciate any feedback I can get from you- On a personal note- I have lost 150 pounds (don't know what I have done since I have been here since my "scale" is in Hawaii- trust me can't wait to get home and weigh myself!!!) Never thought I would say that!!! Hope all is well with everyone- Thanks in advance- Victoria

I have noticed people that knew me before are really proud. New people that don't know my situation feel a little uncomfortable towards me and the way they see me eating. When people talk about being overweight I try to empathize and usually the response is, "how do you know--you are so skinny?" I think--if you only knew. Sometimes I tell new people at work--sometimes I don't--it depends. I find overweight people are a little hostile towards me whether they know my situation or not. Also in myself at work and really anywhere else I am so much more confident. I stand up for myself. I do more and I have no problems being the star-player in certain situations (like when i get compliments for coming up with creative nursing interventions). I have more energy and am much more positive than I used to be as well. I have seen this rub off on other people..and again I have seen it annoy others as well. I just try to do my own thing and I no longer feel undeserving of any of my accomplishments at work, school or anywhere else! Hope that helps!! -KT

I hope this response is not too late for you to use. I haven't been here in a while!! I haven't really noticed too much attitude change. The people who liked me before are very proud of me and encouraging. The people who didn't like me before still don't like me now!! People that did NOT know me before seem to be friendlier, but then I may be friendlier toward them, too!! I FEEL more attractive, and therefore I am sure that I reflect that in my actions. I have had several comments on how "short" I am. I'm 5'2" and that hasn't changed since my weight loss, but I am just so much "smaller" altogether that I am sure I do look shorter! I personally never felt really discriminated against because of my weight. I know that a lot of people do, but I think it is more of a "personal" issue than we realize.
