The new me (post PS)
Hey everybody!!!
It has been a while since I posted, but I have been soooooo busy with school and I had a tummy tuck and breast reduction 2 weeks ago!! I can't believe it!!! For anyone out there looking to have insurance cover your plastics, document everything and take photos! My insurance covered the reduction, tummy tuck (not panni, full tummy with muscle repair) and thighs. I didn't get my thighs done though because I carried all of my weight in the middle and they don't look bad at all. But I took pics of all of the rashes I was getting and sent them my prescription records for all of the antifungal creams and antibiotics that my doc made me take. It took them almost a month to approve everything, but they finally did. I can't ever remember feeling this great in my whole life. I had my PS on 9/21 and went back to school on 9/26. I would totally do everything all over again in a heartbeat. I've gone from a size 22/24 to a size 8 pants and a size 10 top (even with the reduction, the girls are still pretty HEALTHY, lol) If anyone has any questions, please let me know and I will help you with a letter for your pcp to sign and send to the insurance for approval.

Congratulation on the new you! I am so happy for you! MY PS date is November 22 so I would like to ask a few questions if you don't mind! I'm having breast reduction/lift and full abdominoplasty. Did your doctor ask you what cup size you wanted to end up? My biggest fear is that I'll still be too large after the surgery. In my consultation I said to just make me completely proportionate since my hips are on the small side but is this enough information? How did you handle that? What type of pain meds did you have? What type of incision for your TT? How the heck did you manage to go back to school in 5 days??? xo, Sandy
Hi!
COngrats on your PS. I am just thinking about having it done if I can get my insurance company to pay. Any advice/help with the letters needed would be GREATLY appreciated! I have lost 112 pound so far and I am also in my 5th month of a pregnancy. I hope to reach goal after baby is born in Feb. or March. I am about 25-30 lbs shy of ideal weight. I plan on nursing, so I probably won't do it until summer, as I teach and it would be more convienent to do it then. Any advice/insight you have as to how to deal with my insurance company would be wonderful!
Thanks so much!
Sherry
Jae,
I'm so excited to see it is possible to get it covered. I'm having a hard time finding a plastic surgeon that will take insurance and they all tell me to pay up front and then work out reimbursement from the insurance company. Sigh. Any examples of letters and information is appreciated. I also don't know if I am ready to get it done. I keep thinking I should lose another 30 pounds and then see about it (I'm at 175 now) but I just don't know if it is too soon for me. I see lots of skin but I wonder how much fat is still there. How did you know you were ready to do it? Did you make any special preparations before going in (extra exercise, extra protein)? Thanks!
