Hi Everyone Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday afternoon. I have been hesitating asking this question but finally decided I need to know the answer from all of you. I was wondering how many of you have really stinky BM's? It seems like I can even bring tears to my own eyes. Is this something that may be abnormal? Marianne

Totally normal - I get that way too, I must admit!! And when ya pass gas - please run in the opposite direction!!! Of course, early post-op it was worse now it has subsided somewhat but sometime it gets pretty bad. I was saying to friends that we can get Osama out of those hills he is hiding if they take a few of us post-ops and we let them rip in there!! Osama will be running right out them hills, for sure!!!! LOL

Well since I am not the first to admit it I guess I can share. Yes they aren't to pleasant. I figured it was my vitamins or something. Glad to see i'm not alone. Shannon

Dear Marianne, I also share this stinky problem. Having a bm helps a little. I also chew 2 Gas-X tablets if I need to be around other people and am having gas. It helps for a little while. It is so embarrassing to have gas when I am walking with a friend. I tell her to walk a few steps ahead of me until the problem ends!!! She is so kind and doesn't make me very bad. I seems to be worse after eating Gassy foods like cabbage, brocolli and beans of all sorts. Bye for now, Susan Scott

OH BOY YES!!! In fact, I carry a purse-size Ozium air freshener in my purse - to save my poor co-workers from sudden death when I've used the facilities! The surgeon said it's a combination of the high-protein diet and the vitamins that makes it so much worse!!!

I am sooooo glad to hear someone else mention this. I am about DYING in my own stink! GROSS!!!!!!!!! I was asking my mom (who is an RN) about this the other day, and she said that since we bypass part of our intestines for food absoprtion, it also limits the amount of bacteria we have to break down gasses in foods, which results in more potent expulsions! GROSS!! Anyway, Yes, it's that way here too. I am so thankful that I am a stay at home mom and do not have to be around people when that happens! LOL I mean, my four year old gasps and acts all melodramatic enough! LOL

Marianne, LOL The BM's are bad but ..... I have killer gas - runs me outta the room - blow your trumpet - my butt trumpet has a mind of its own and knows Noooooo shame. I keep air freshner with me ALWAYS. I'm looking into Devrom or nullo - internal deodorizers - I'll let you know if they work. I guess it's the ~sweet~ smell of success? My family does NOT think its sweet - I am the hands down all around winner of loudest/stinkiest farts. - hugs - dea

I started using Innermints an internal deodorant due to the same problems that we all have stated. Look into this. I have noticed the smell's both gas & stool are not as bad. Good luck Nina The compnay's website is INNERMINTS.com
