What is going on with me? In the last two months I have only lost 5lbs. that is a total of 83lbs and I will be 10 months out on the 20th. Could something be wrong with me? I am not a light weight either I started at 299. I feel as if Im going crazy. I am appreciative of the weight I have lost but I know I should be losing more. Any advice is welcome.

Dear Tina, I feel your frustration, girl! I have lost a total of 94 lbs in about the same time - really just a few more than you - and started this trip at 310. My guesses, for my slower (seemingly than others) weight loss are the following: Not enough water. Not truly enough protein. Not truly enough exercise. Whenever I've varied one of those three (particularly the water and exercise) things seem to move in a more positive direction (on the scale going down). Also something I've noticed about myself - about every 30 lbs or so I stall.....can take about a month to get the scale going down again. I have just passed a stall and am watching the numbers go down on the scale. Try not to get too worked up about it. Vary the three things above and see what happens. Try to remember how much better you feel and I'm guessing how much more healthy you are then you were 10 months ago! Good luck. Tracey

I had my surgery on September 29, '04 and I have lost only 80 pounds. I started at 268 and I am down to 188. I was sick last week and had got down to 183 but I'm back up to 188. I guess I was dehydrated a little. Nevertheless, 80 pounds isn't a lot compared to others. I try not to stress over it. Everything has it's advantages and I try to look at things in a positive way. With your weight loss being kind of slow it is giving your skin time to catch up with your weight loss. (less flabby skin) I've been told that I look healthy and have a glow. My weightloss is not so drasti****il it concerns people. Although my weight loss goal in between 145 and 150 I've been told that I look good at the weight that I am at now. I am very pleased at how I look now so I try to go through this weight loss journey gracefully. I know it's only going to get better with time. Be patient, it will happen.

Thanks for your replys I think I just had to finally get it off my chest. Somedays Im happy with how im looking and others I don't feel as if Ive lost 1 lb. I'm going to start writing everything down and see what happens. Maybe I am not aware of what I am doing. I know before I was a bad grazer and that hurts I'm sure. Thanks for listening Tina

To be honest I never know what causes me to lose and then what causes me not to. I don't usually do anything different on the times I lose or the times I don't. I honestly think some lose slower then others. I use to think that the one's who needed to lose more lost a lot more faster but then i've come across other's who'd be considered light weights and they've lost fast so I really don't have a clue. You've lost weight and the only thing I can say is try doing what you've been doing. Even if it is coming off slow it is coming off. Maybe you could try changing your exercise routine. Sometimes the body gets use to one thing and can cause you to stay the same. Maybe you could change the things your eating. Try reducing your calorie intake or make sure your eating enough. You may even have to add more calories to your diet. I am sorry if it seems like I am all over the map but I am just throwing out some ideas. Wishing you the best though. Shannon

Shannon I'm sure it is just the way my body is I slowed down at three months out. It just gets agravating. I will get to my goal. I am trying to take more time for myself and not let the family interfer with my exercising. I have been to lazy to get up at 5:30 but I want to get it done before start my day. I know I would feel so much better. I have got to stop whining and just do it. Thank you so much for all your ideas all ideas are welcome believe me. Tina

Tina, I know it's so frustrating that the weight loss has slowed down - I feel your pain - its mine 2. I want to lose 30/40 more lbs - but if I never lose another I feel so much better. Hang in there - I believe you and I will both make it to our goals - everyone loses differently - just keep doing what you know we have to - up the protein, up the water and exercise. - hugs - dea
