Health Issues Worsen??!! Why?
Hello fellow Septembers':
I have done well with losing and just hit a "bump" in the road as far as the scale goes. Having lost 137 pounds, I feel I can push "restart" on the losing again by making small changes. HOWEVER, my repeat sleep study revealed that my Sleep Apnea is now Severe instead of Moderate as it was when I was heavier. I have begun to struggle again with Fibromyalgia pain and my Bipolar "manic" episodes are more frequent. Also, the pulmonologist says I have Asthma now. :
Weird, huh? It was disheartening to find out the above but I will try to control it with meds and exercise. I also find myself "overextending" my time with volunteer work and sitting jobs to "help the family" when in reality Im hurting me. And to think I had begun to question my PENDING SS Disability application (month 21)??!! I guess that "surgery on my stomach, did NOTHING TO FIX MY HEAD!" Im trying to stay positive even as I sit here without sleep for days.....ULGH!
Best of luck everyone.
STILL NEED A NEW PIC!!!

Leslie,
Ask yourself this 'Could all of the medical issues have gotten worse if I hadn't had the surgery?'. You know the answer is yes. In fact, probably worse than they are right now. Skinny people get all of those things too. Sleep apnea USUALLY can be helped with weight loss...but skinny people get SA too. You may need the throat surgery to try to correct the problem.
It's been terrific weather here, hopefully, it is there too. Get out of the house and take a nice long walk...every day if possible! Yes, it will help you physically, but it will mentally as well! Do this for YOU!

Hey Les!
I can totally relate to at least some of what you are saying. Although my MS is still in remission, my rheumatoid arthritis and fibro are FULL BLOWN and each days seems to get worse - instead of better. I am frustrated and angry.
In my heart, I KNOW that I would be much worse off it I was still morbidly obese. .. but it is soooo disheartening to know that the pain is getting worse instead of better.
((( HUGS )))
It does suck when the weight loss isn't a cure all, though. I can relate.
HUGS ((( HUGS ))) Les.
And I'm going to email you!

My issues probably don't compare to yours but after having the surgery and loosing the weight i've lost I now have high cholesterol. I actually laughed when I was told this cause it was just nuts. My doctor said that in my case he really believes that it is hereditary.
Honestly though I really hope that you get better and that what ever your doctor(s) put you on makes everything better. My asthma has actually gotten worse since surgery but the meds I am on are keeping it under control. I've had asthma since I was a tiny baby so I really didn't think having the surgery would cure that.
I hope your able to get some sleep and take some time out to care for yourself.

I can relate to some of what you are saying. I have depression and anxiety..and insomnia also. Here recently the past 6 wks or so, my anxiety, stress and depression level and sky rocketed. My Dr increased my anxiety med. Changed me from Ambian to Klonopin (plus I secretely take a 100mg trazodone) to sleep. My depression hits me all of a sudden and don't know why. Hubby will ask me what's wrong and all I can do is cry and say that I don't know. He doesn't understand that. But you know that there are times that are unexplainable when our mental condtion mood**** As far as the sleep goes.. I stay up for days at a time then when I do go to sleep, it's ony like 2-2.5 hrs in a 24 hr period. I get exhausted but the brain just will not shut down so that I can sleep.
I hope that all gets better for you.

-165.5 gone 4ever!
This is probably too easy of a solution for you, but I take one benadryl and two tylenol before I go to sleep every night. It works like a charm. I still use my oxygen even though I've lost 127 lbs. I guess I'm just afraid not to use it, but one day soon I'm going to try sleeping without it and see what happens.
Hope you find a cure for your insomnia. That could really be the pits to not be able to sleep.
