Water Loading...

I noticed Delores mentioned water loading in the last post. I was glad b/c it reminded me that I have been meaning to ask this board questions on it. I had never heard of water loading until I read about it on this site. I do find it helpful, but was wondering what anyone else knows about it. My doc never told me about it, and I never read any books on it while I was researching this surgery. However, I hear it is a must for long-term success... What do you all think or know on the subject???? Enlighten Me!! Katie

I do it a lot. It really helps when you are having a munchy, hungry type day or just know you are going to be faced with too many food choices. If you go the the library part of the web site and enter it in the search area you will get lots of info about it. It also assures you of getting in all your water for the day lol. I is only suggested if you are at least 6 months out and I guess that is about when I began playing with it. I have a new picture from Mother's Day that I sent in and hope shows up soon!! This one is still from October!!

Can't wait to see your new pic! You are right too, water loading helps when you just can't stop having a snacky day. -KT

Dolores - I just keep track the old-fashioned way on paper with columns for protein, carbs, and calories. I just made a chart with Word. But I have heard people talk about Fitday.com. I tried it and it just didn't work for me. I can't always get on the computer at home when I want to. Good luck! Hugs, Sandy

Waterloading really helps after the six month mark to attack the munchies, but it also helps to get a really good cleansing of the body. I try to do it about once a week, just to clean myself out and really hydrate myself. I also do it before I know I'm going in for blood tests (I have crappy veins, and the water plumps them up). I simply say to myself that "today I'm going to drink six bottles of 16.9oz of water instead of four," and the have it before eating a meal (two bottles before a meal). Cuts down on how much I eat.
