Hi guys I think it's time for a re-post of what foods have been helpful for you to stay on track. What do you find especially satisfying or useful for stopping cravings? I'm going to list a few that I've posted about before, and try to think of a few that I haven't shared with you guys before. Looking forward to reading your ideas! 1) Southwest Chicken Fajita Pita from Jack in the Box Restaurant- I don't know if you guys have Jack in the Box by you, but this is a great little sandwich for 260 calories. Nothing unhealthy about it. Leave some of the pita behind and it's even better. A great drive thru choice on those days you have no choice. 2) Miso Soup- this comes in a packet and is only 35 calories! Delicious, my kids love it too. Great on those days you already overdid it a bit and just want something really light later in the day. 3) Sara Lee Deliteful breads and bagels- low calorie but still delicious. Whole grain and no trans fats. 4) Laughing Cow Light wedge cheese- smear some on a turkey slice and eat with a pickle for lunch. Really good. 35 calories a wedge. 5) Ak Mak Stone Ground Wheat Crackers- 20 calories for a BIG cracker, yum. Ordinary crackers are yukky compared to this. Ancient methods, totally healthy. 6) Apple Cranberry Zen bran muffins from Trader Joe's. 80 calories, fill ya like a 6 course meal. Great breakfast. 7) Costco canned chicken breast- yummy alternative to tuna. 8) Of course, my wonderful Quaker Lower Sugar Oatmeal, preferably the apple cinnamon flavor. Make this with half a cup of water AND half a cup of nonfat carb conscious milk, which only adds 20 calories but makes a world of difference in the taste and how it thickens up. Plus one added splenda and some cinnamon sprinkled on top. OMG. 130 calorie bliss. Another option is to do all water and add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to jack up the protein and add creaminess. I did this once and it was great! 9****d decaf coffee from starbucks with one oz half and half and 2 splenda. Only 50 calories but satisfies like a frappucino would for 650. Dont drink tea or coffee within 2 hrs of your iron pill. 10) an occasional chocolaty protein bar to feel like i'm having a treat. some are as low as 110 calories and actually good for you, read labels. Well that's it for now. Sorry for the lengthy post for those of you who get irritated with my wordiness Share your ideas too! Especially those of you who eat very limited carbs. I'd love to have more protein ideas. Have a great weekend guys! Love, Sue

I love the WASA Fiber Rye crackers... 30 calories, 1 fat, 7 carbs (2 are fiber) and 1 protein. YUMMMY! Especially with cheeses. I haven't tried with peanut butter yet but I might soon. I brought a package of them with spreadable cheese and even my nephews (18 months and 4 years) loved them. They ask for them whenever I come over to babysit. Well, the 4 year old does and the 18 month old grunts for them. LOL They are large and filling and very tasty. Another treat is the Breyers Carb Smart Ice Cream Bar. It is not as healthy so I save them for when I really need a fix (monthly). 170 calories, 15 fat, 9 carbs (5 net), 2 protein. The chocolate on it is really good... the ice cream is ok. If I'm really desperate for sweets... strawberries with splenda on them or dipped in cool whip.

Hi, Sue! I, for one, LOVE your wordiness!! Some great ideas you have shared! Thanks! For a treat, I keep some chilled Carb Clever (Del Monte) sliced peaches around. 1/2 cup has 30 calories, 7 carbs and 1g protein. They are sweetened with Splenda. Topped with some vanilla creme Carb Freedom yogurt--mmmm! Also, fresh strawberries sliced thinly and sweetened with a bit of splenda added to my Carb Freedom strawberry yogurt. The fresh fruit helps the yogurt become for filling. A kind of "bad" thing I have found for me to have around are the "low carb" frozen ice cream-type treats. They help me through "that" time of the month, but when I have them in the freezer, old demons start to stir! Thanks, again, for the ideas! I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut so thanks for the ideas. I went out and bought the Wasa crackers last night (Thanks Laura!) Where do I buy the miso soup? Here are some of my favorite things: I don't buy alot of convenience foods but I couldn't live without my South Beach protein bars. Love the peanut butter, cinnamon raisin and chocolate are great too depending on my mood. I've been making fabulous little wraps for lunch with some tortillas I discovered at Safeway. La Tortilla Factory. I've bought garlic and herb flavor, green onion flavor and original wheat. They're only 50 calories each, 3 net carbs and 9 whopping grams of fiber! And YUMMY! Tuna salad with a little Hellman's light mayo and chopped dill pickles and olives to give it some CRUNCH! Sometimes I add old bay seasoning. Can't wait to try this with my new Wasa crackers. Poach chicken breasts and toss with a little Hellman's light mayo and Hormel crumbled bacon (from a resealable pouch, get it at Costco). Sometimes I also add slivered almonds for extra CRUNCH! Greek omelette - one of my favorite easy dinners - saute spinach, onions, tomato, add egg and when egg is "set" add feta cheese, SO GOOD! Fajitas - Cut chicken breasts into strips, marinate if desired (watch for hidden carbs, usually sugar, in your marinade!) and grill. Serve with lots of sauteed peppers (green, yellow and red), shredded cheese, chopped tomato, avocado, light or fat free sour cream. Skip the tortillas or use a LC tortilla like the one mentioned above. Also can use lean steak and/or shrimp. Shish-ke-bobs - so simple! Chicken, beef or shrimp and veggies on a skewer, grill and enjoy! Buffalo Chicken Wings - I'm making this tomorrow night when my son comes home from college. I buy a 10 pound bag of wings from Costco and keep in freezer, CHEAP! Or buy wings from meat counter, cut off and throw away wing tip and split remaining portion into drummette and wing portion. Bake in oven for 45 min. to an hour or til done. Turn frequently or they will stick. Then toss in bowl with hot sauce, I like Texas Pete's. Serve with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing (I like Marie's light blue cheese) and a side salad. That's it for now, sorry to go on and on! That's what happens when I talk about one of my favorite subjects . . . FOOD, haha! P.S. Chipotle sauce! Just discovered this on Saturday! It's amazing, so good and no calories, no carbs.
