Feeling Cold vs. Summer Heat

Hi Everyone Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far--Here on Long Island the weather has finally cleared and the sun even came out today--it was supposed to rain right up until tomorrow morning. Guess Mother Nature is on our side this weekend Girls! Happy Mother's Day! My question for all of you is this. Now that we all complain (as in my case I am tickled pink to be cold and would rather wear a sweatshirt than SWEAT) of feeling cold constantly I am curious to find out if this means that I can look forward to this coming summer's heat and wonder if now we will be able to handle the heat better? I had always spent my summers in doors on hot days in my central air conditioning because I hated to step out into the heat. Hope all you post-ops before me can answer this one for me based on your summer experiences. Looking forward to hearing from you. Hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day whether you are a Mother or just spending the day with yours. Either way, enjoy the day and cherish the love! Hugs Marianne

Hi Marianne, I live in a very hot part of California. We range around 95-105 all summer long (but it's a DRY heat...) Right now we range between low 60's and low 80's. I am freezing my butt off the majority of the time. I am curious what summer's going to feel like to me also, but I tell you, currently, I have been buying cardigans in every color and I am always freezing. My husband is tired of me sticking my hands under his shirt to warm up! I am hoping as my iron levels come back up this will get better. Make sure you keep tabs on your bloodwork. Have a great mother's day! Love, Sue

Marianne - I have been FREEZING since my surgery! Granted, it was a cold winter and has been a chilly spring til now but I can never seem to get warm, except for spring break when I visited my mom in West Palm. She thought I was nuts, after a few days I kept exclaiming "I'm finally warm, I'm finally warm!" I too have been wondering what the summer will feel like since I was always hot and sweaty, yuck, and I always wanted to house to feel like a meat locker and my husband and I would argue over the thermostat! Hugs, Sandy

I too am curious as to how I will handle the summer heat if it ever gets here. In Massachusetts its freaking cold still. We have had rain all this past weekend and on Monday. Since its Tuesday its finally getting into the 60's. I find I am always freezing. My hands are like icicles and I still use my electric blanket at night. My hubby sweats while I am snuggled under my blankets. It will be an interesting summer. Erin

Well guys... not much hope. I live in SOUTH Florida (Fort Myers) and I freeze all the time. It is in the high 80s to 90s and I am fine outside but I get into a building and I'm frozen. I keep turning off the air conditioning in the house and find my son and fiance sweating. I sleep with a sheet, blanket and comforter on and lately have worn full length pajamas. I will tell you that I was lying by the pool on Monday - in my first two-piece ever, thank you very much - and when the sun went behind the clouds I had a chill. I don't mind because I think the days of makeup sweating off my face are gone forever. Oh happy day!!!! I carry sweaters and jackets with me alot... they are all supersized but at least I can get away with that when it comes to sweaters and jackets.

Marianne, I hope we (or at least me) will be freezing this summer. Hot flashes have kicked in this week and are kicking my butt royally. My dog thinks I'm nuts... got a big blanket on my chair, 3 on the bed and fans going all over the house... thank goodness they only last a couple of minutes and then its back to the deep freeze but they come on so quickly and last for only about 5 mins but man... intense 5 mins.... blankets flying, clothes flying, magazines or paper as a fan... and the fans all cranked up on HI for 5 mins then back down to low for the duration till the next wave of heat... granted its a quick relief that my nose fingers and toes aren't blue but I'll take blue to sweating buckets anyday!!! My mom lost nearly 70 pounds a few years ago and she wore sweat suits all summer long! We teased her then but now I know what she went thru. I think we are going to be chilly for awhile! wanda
