watermelon!!!!
Hey! I've been doing great. Hair has been growing back and I got it cut a bit shorter! I would have never done that at 260. Now I'm 177. A lot of times I feel like I'm going slow, but then I realize that there are people who are even slower. Anyway, getting to the point of this post, I absolutly, love watermelon. Ever since a month or so ago, I've been craving and eating fruit. Kiwi, watermelon, apples. I don't know if this is good or bad. So what I wanted to knpw is, is having 1 or 2 fruits a day bad? Because I hear that they can be or something like that.

You should talk to your surgeon and ask what is their philosophy on fruit during your weight loss period. My surgeon's instructions are 70 grams of protein and 30 carbs a day maximum and no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, beans or fruit. At my six month check up he advised I continue to follow this plan and also limit myself to 800 calories til I reach goal. I have been so compliant so far and asked him if I could treat myself to fruit once a week and he said OK. What a treat! Mostly I indulge in fresh pineapple but I love watermelon too! Haven't had any yet though. I feel like I could sit down and eat a whole watermelon!
Most fruits are high carb. Here are some examples: medium apple-17 carbs, small banana-21 carbs, 1 c. grapes-28 carbs, medium orange-13 carbs, 1 c. pineapple-17 carbs, 1 c. strawberries-8 carbs, 1 c. watermelon-10 carbs. My problem is I could never eat just a cup of watermelon.
I love fruit and really really miss it but I know this is only temporary. When I reach my goal I know that I will transition into a diet that will include fruit daily. Good luck! Hugs, Sandy

Hi Erica,
Congrats on your great weight loss! I do eat fruit. As long as it's in moderation, my doctor isn't worried about it. But you know how these doctors all have different opinions on this stuff. In my opinion, you should try and eat as normally as possible so there isn't a "diet" mentality, but more of a long term "health" mentality. That's just me though, and God knows I'm one of the slower losers here!
