Hi everyone. I am the slowest loser on the board. There were a few people like me but they have passed me up. I know everyone is different and I should be thrilled but come on . . . enough is enough. I have lost 60 lb. Thrilled with that but not elated. I exercise like crazy, eat my protein, drink my water, take all my vitamins and I am the winner of being the fricking slowest loser here. I am down right discusted and pretty much getting pissed off . I am almost embarassed to post this. There is probably nothing I can do. I am a medical professional and I know the ins and outs!!! I follow all the directions and I mean all of them. I just need to blow off some steam. I don't know what to do other than keep my chin up and keep going at it. My best friend on the board, Erin Obrien, who I love to death weighs 30 lb. less than me and we started out the same!!!! She is a wonderful support with lots of good ideas. Honest to God, I have not had one sweet since last August; I am talking not even a freaking M@M. Please do not ask me if I am following the rules . . . cause I am. I measure everything that goes in my mouth as well as the other stuff. Anyone else in the same boat? Sorry for being such a downer. J.

J~ You're not a downer! We all need to blow off a little steam once in a while. I think it gets to us all. I know you know muscle weighs more than fat, but just try to remind yourself that, that may be why your friend weighs less. If she's not exercizing as much as you are that could very well explain it. It will all come off when your body is ready. I'm sorry you are going through the slow thing and I know you'll get there. Keep your chin up and let it all out when ever you need to. You'll feel better for it. Jo

I do not know what to tell you to make you feel better but I will send a hug your way. Your BMI is 28, so you are headed in the right direction just a bit slow. The only thing I can think of is maybe you are drinking too many protein drinks. Although they are good for us and we do need the protein, they do have calories and sugar in them. I go to Fitday.com and calculate my dietary food in there. I did find out that with me being low on Carbs. that makes it high on fats. So my protein and fat consumption go neck in neck on the grams. My calorie intake is about 900 six months out. My first 3 months were at 400-500 calories. I am glad you posted. I know you will continue to lose because you are doing the right things. Do not give up, I bet when you look in the mirror you are feeling great about yourself. Take care, Janice

Hi there J! Well, maybe this will make you feel better- My surgery was on Sept.20/2004 and I have lost just a tad under 60 lbs. I just saw my pcp and we are thinking it is because of my diabetes and the insulin I have to take. I only take it at night now, as opposed to 4 times a day before surgery. But, it does make it harder to lose. I also had a back injury in January and could not exercise like I needed to, until a few weeks ago. I have now started to go to Curves and I love it! So, we will see! But, I understand the FRUSTRATION, believe me!!! And I still struggle with getting my water and protein in some days. But, when we reach our goals, AND WE WILL- how much sweeter the victory will be! Take care and God bless Jan

J.- Vent away . . . that's what we are here for. I can sense that you feel very frustrated and I don't blame you. You have been SO compliant and have not gotten the reward that you feel you deserve--a more rapid weight loss. That sucks. Have you had your metabolism tested? Well, it might make you feel a little better to think that the longer it takes you to reach your goal is a longer time of modifying your eating habits and so you are less likely to lapse back into old bad habits. Don't give up sweetie! Just remember that the tortoise won the race, not the hare! Hugs, Sandy

Hi J, I'm glad to hear from you again, it's been cool seeing posts from so many of our september buds who haven't been here in a while. You know me, I am one of the slower losers as well, and I know it can be a little maddening some times. I too agree with you that there's probably not much I can do to make things go faster. It sounds like you are following the rules better than I am. I definitely slip up here and there. I just hope that even if things are going slower than you'd like, that your weight loss continues and you eventually get to where you want to be. That's what I'm counting on, and I say this after my second week in a row with a .25 lb loss. I just want to keep inching my way down. Stick with me and we'll be turtles together who eventually get there. Don't apologize for being a downer either, we all have days where we get frustrated and find it hard to see the big picture. Love, Sue

Hey J! Your bud here....I have to tell you that I have to agree with the person who (I apologize but didn't catch their name) said that muscle weighs more than fat. You have been exercising and you have been so committed to your exercise and eating right. You are not a downer, just plum frustrated. You have more muscle than I do. I haven't exercised much at all except for just walking. I haven't been eating right like I should and I am frustrated too. But we can do this. It will happen for you. OK, you're slow. I know you hate to hear this but I am gonna say it anyway. Every bodys metabolism and bodies are different and will lose at different rates....(I'm ducking cuz I see that chair being thrown at my head) ROFL...... I have been on a plateau now for weeks. But J, hun, you are gonna get there. To reach your goal weight all you need to lose is 20lbs. I have another 30 lbs to go before I reach my goal. But you are doing wonderful. Even your docs are pleased with your success. Don't knock your successes. Although, right now you don't feel that way. You are my super bestest friend and I hate to hear how upset you are and if I could, I'd zip it all off for you in a heartbeat. Celebrate what you have lost so far. Be happy that you are sticking to it and doing wonderful. You are my friend. Hang in there. You know, I'll always be here for you....and if you still want to slap me...Go ahead....Thats what friends are for.... Love ya J! Chin up! You're doing awesome! Love, Erin

Bless your heart!! you are NOT a downer!! We all understand about being frustrated!! I hate to ask, but are you sure if you're getting "enough" calories in? I eat between 1000-1200 daily and my weight loss is not fast, but it is steady. If you don't eat enough, your body thinks it is in starvation mode and "fights" to keep the fat it has. You probably knew that already, and if so just "ignore me"!!! Hope you get to feeling better soon!!! Hugs, Pam
