Lately I have been told quite often that I look great and then they say, "You aren't trying to lose any more weight are you?" I appreciate that they think I look good, but I still weigh 185 lbs! Not that I wouldn't be happy the way I am(except for old thunder thighs!) but I really think I need to lose more. Any one else feel the same way? It's like they think I am going to be anorexic or something! I am still obese on the bmi scale. I may be selfish but I don't want the "obese" label anymore. Actually I don't even want to be called overweight either! Go figure!

Hi Carol It is so ironic you mention this. I am in the exact same boat as you are! I have lost 97 lbs and now weigh 170. I still want to lost at least 40 lbs more. I am constantly told I look great just the way I am and then asked about losing more weight. When I say I still have to lose more I get " Your Kidding", You are so SKINNY now! You will be sick if you lose anymore! Needless to say, like you I am still considered "overweight" according to my BMI. I have 11 more pounds to go to be within "normal" weight range! I guess this is one of the benefits of being tall, you look thinner than you actually are! All I know is I AM DETERMINED! Just like you said, "GO FIGURE!" Hugs Marianne

They call me skinny - but i always say i still have a long way to go but they don't want to believe me - but who cares I know i'm still obese or super obese and im still in the 200's and i want to go down to 135 so i hve a lot way to go right - but lets keep doing what we need - and ignore those people.

hi Carol, I totally understand where you are coming from and i can relate also. Just in the last month or so, i have heard those same comments from people. I am 5'9" and i now weigh 199 lbs. Of course, compared to weighing 314 lbs. which was my highest weight, i am skinny...but like you said, i am still considered overweight. Most people that make those comments have never been overweight and don't know the goal we are going for. So, i have gotten to the point where i just say, "yeah, i still have a little to lose, but we all know i don't want to be ""skinny"" ". I also say " i know i'm skinny compared to what i used to look like, but i am FAR from skinny". In any case, no ones opinion counts except mine, and i make that known to everyone also, but in a nice way You keep up the good work and do your thing!!! ~Missy~

I've had the same thing happen. Some of the people are skinny mini's and others are average folks. They say, "Are you done now?" or "You don't want to lose more do you? You're so skinny now." Oh yeah right. BMI of 32. If I'm skinny, they are anorexic! I'm 5'3" and my goal is 130 - 140 pounds. That's not thin, it's considered "healthy to slightly overweight". I was 140 in highschool and I never saw "slightly overweight" when I looked at myself, but fine - I can deal with that.

Thanks for the post Carol. I am hearing the same comments myself. When I tell people I had surgery they can't beleive I was big enough to have met the criteria. I was borderline but, I passed the test. I am only 5'2" and started out at 221. I am now 147. I figure I have 15-20 lbs to go. I really think I will be more than happy at 130. People just don't understand us, I guess. Oh well, we only have ourselves to make happy, not others. Teri

It's good to know that I am not alone! That is what I love about this place. My feelings are always verified!!!! Oh well! I do plan to lose more! Maybe I should just try saying "Whatever!" PS-The pic on my message is from November. I have my new pics on my profile. Can't wait for my message pic to be updated!
