k i guess i just need to talk... Anyway lately i have gained like 14 lbs in 2 wks but then again i have been on my period as well for 2 wks. I have been eatin a lot... as in i had a slice and a half of pizza 30 min later i had 4 oz cup of apple sauce and then had 12 oz of water on top of that... after 30 min of course... i am just always hungry and i try to stay busy but it just doesnt happen. It seems that the only time i dont eat is when i am sleepin or when i am not home... k so then tonight i ate the crust on my pizza which i have never done even before surg and SUPERMAN says i think you might had stretched ur pouch ur eatin a lot lately ... i have been going to the gym daily and burnin 400 caloried and i have been liftin wts... but i cant lift wts anymore bc i have a hernia... I am almost to the point of findin a appitzer supplement which i know wont work.... BUT this has got to change.... maybe if i go back on liquids for 2 wks and work my way back up to real food.... I found I was able to eat more than before for the last week. I went back and looked at the basic rules and I was drinking water with my food. I went back to not drinking 30 min before, during or 30 min after my meals and my 'fullness level' returned and it also kickstarted my weight loss again. Hopefully this helps. Kell

Manda, Are you having any pain? When I had my ulcers, if my pouch was empty,I hurt. After I ate, the pain would subside. It made it to where I wanted to eat all the time. I didn't, I called the doc instead who put me on ulcer meds. If not, are you still drinking protein supplements? Protein helps fill you up. Try going back on them. Myself, I would avoid bread and pizza crusts...lots of calories & carbs for so few grams of protein. Breads will also swell in the pouch (stretching it). Try eating 2 oz of protein and 1-2 oz of vegetable, starch, or fruit to make 5 oz per meal. The dietician also has me on a 2-3 oz snack as well (which I usually have cheese for more protein). A very wise woman on another site, who had RNY over 5 years ago made the statement that if you want to lose weight, increase your PEW...Protein-Exercise-Water. Good luck! Sherri

Just wanted to second what Sherri said. I have two ulcers, and the ONLY time my stomach doesn't hurt is when it's full. Ulcer pain is frequently mistaken for hunger pain. Sucks!

Amanda - this is not uncommon what you are experiencing. All of us who have reached the 6month are experiencing the head hungrys...i was munching on cheerios and cashews even though it was close to my dinner..but i felt like i was munching and felt like attacking the food...i like sandy had posted something about the honeymoon period being over and our bodies adjusting to wanting more food..i thought I had stretched my pouch as well but then i ate my chicken patty as usually and i was full quickly so i knew it was not stretched. Keep doing the right thing protein, water and exercise. It's just getting back to basics.

Hey Manda, I'm sorry you are struggling. I have been struggling some with my hunger too. Hopefully the weight gain is jus****er weight from your period. I seriously doubt you have consumed enough extra calories to have gained 14 lbs of fat in 2 weeks. Try to keep that in mind. Has anything else changed in this time? If you are exercising much more, that can definitely jack up the hunger. I think all the advice you've received is great. Make sure that you don't have an ulcer, make sure you are following the basics, getting enough protein and realizing that at 6 months it is normal for our appetite to go up a bit. Also, for me, it is so vital that I track on fitday so that I know where I stand and just put a stop to the eating if I have too much too early in the day. For someone else without much appetite, this may not be necessary, but if you have the hungries alot, whether it's physical or head hunger, then you need to stay accountable about what's going in your mouth. Good luck with this, I think we are just entering a tougher phase, but we can do it! Love, Sue

Manda, How's it going? Did you get hold of your doc? What's the verdict? Yes, I can be nosey at times...*smiles* Sherri
