Sounds like you may have one! Good thing that you have your appointment. Does it feel better when you put pressure on it? I know I had one a few years back and when it would hurt I would push on it and it wouldn't be as painful. I had open rny so my chances are pretty good that I will get another... If I do get another one I will be looking into getting a tt at the same time. Anyway, hope you are not in too much pain! Take care and keep us posted. Karen

Sounds like you got yourself a hernia. Call the office now and let them know of your suspicions. Also, watch your temperature! Hernia's can become whats called incarcerated. The muscles can actually tighten around the hernia and cut off blood supply to the involved tissues and can cause MAJOR and I mean major problems that could require emergency surgery. Keep your appt for the first but call the office and update them and like I said, check your temp daily (preferably in the afternoon) and if you see a spike in your temp call the office immediately or go to the ER. Good luck... hope the pain eases wanda

Manda, Yep, It's a hernia. I had my surgery 9/20 and I have my hernia surgery on 4/5. My gastric bypass doc wanted my to wait till I lost all my weight before I got it fixed, but it is huge! It is bigger than a cantaloupe and I actually look like I'm expecting from the belly button up! My hernia doc said that the entire incision opened. I won' t be able to weight train for 6 weeks following the surgery, but I won't be in pain any more either. I would take 6 hernias if I had to do it all again. Good luck to you! Trish

Manda - Sounds like you might have a hernia and you need to be careful! I have a HUGE hernia in my right abdominal area but I want to wait til I lose all my weight to have it repaired so I can have a full tummy tuck too. I'm aiming for September. But my surgeon advised if I am in pain and it becomes hard to go straight to the emergency room because I would have to have surgery within 4 hours, I think it's called strangulation? Something like that. Good luck! Hugs, Sandy 268/175/136

Hey Manda.. I am 4 weeks out of hernia surgery.. I had a huge one.. My doc called it a periabdominal herina... Hope I spelled that right.. It was around my belly button, not in it.. He had to make an incision the whole length of my gastic bypass scar.... It hurt the first few days after surgery but I'm up and going once again.. If it's a hernia and it sounds as though it is cause I felt the same then please take care of as soon as possible, hon so you can be back on your way to recovery... -Shannon
