How is goal weight determined?

I know this may be a crazy question, but how do you determine your "goal" weight? When I talked to my doctor, he always gives me a range of my healthy weight. It's like 147-165 (or something similar to that) based of my height and frame I'm guessing. Now, out of that, what is my goal weight? How have you determined your goal weight? Thank you!!! That is NOT a crazy question!! They do determine your "range" according to your age, height, and frame size. Your "goal weight" could be anywhere within that "range" that you are comfortable with. I chose the "top" of my range (135) because I just figured if I could get there I would be VERY happy!!! I think that you will "know" pretty instinctively when you have reached your "goal". Plus, your doctor should say "that's enough loss now!" Hope this helps you. Hugs, Pam

You are right, its' about age, height and current weight. My doc said - 147 for me - but I want to go down to 135 however he said my ideal weight is 98 lbs...if i was Calista Flockhart - no way i could get there..unless i want to become anexoric..I guess 135 would be good for my height...and see how 147 feel to you - remember they say you regain 25% of your weight due to fallin back to old habits so I would go as low as I could - or whatever you're comfortable with. Good luck
