Shopping

Last Night Hubby and I went to the Mall just to get out of the house and just have a fun evening. I took the Mall gift card that my daughter gave me for my birthday so I could hopefully buy something to wear this summer. Well I thought this was going to be an easy task--but--it wasn't! This was the first time I actually went shopping for something other than "fat" clothes and actually found myself looking at styles I would have picked out when I was size 26/28. I knew I did not want to buy the same type of styles and had a hard time locating the "smaller" styles. This story does have a happy ending because I did find a cute "mini" skort outfit in size 14/16. I tried it on when I got home and my hubby LOVED it! I felt like a college girl again! Now I just have to wait until the warmer weather to wear it. Imagine--me in a Mini Skort with a ruffle on the bottom!!!! Yipeeeeeeee! Hugs Marianne

I give you a lot of credit for being able to find something. Shopping is a nightmare for me. Honestly, i've even broken down in tears in the store because of it. I have no idea how to dress myself anymore. I was at Walmart last week with my daughter and I found this beautiful skirt, in like a pink salmon color. Well I grabbed it and was preparing to walk around to find a shirt to match when I realized I had no idea what color would match it. Then I was like omg what color shoe's would match this, and then my head started spinning and I just put the skirt back and started crying. I feel like I have to relearn how to dress. Like i've never done this before. Now it should be a joyous occasion that I can grab a size 14 skirt and be able to put it on and have it fit but I am so stressed that I can't find the joy in it. I even wrote in to What Not To Wear for some advice, which they have yet to give me. Oh well, one day I will find the joy in shopping for smaller clothing.... Shannon

I went shopping yesterday with my best friend and for the first time since she and i met 10 years ago, we were able to shop in the same stores. We were in the stores and we were both picking up things that would look good on each of us. Then we went to the fitting rooms and modeled the clothes for each other. We have never really been able to go shopping together due to the fact that i hated to go into the "normal size" clothing stores, and i never wanted anyone to ever go shopping with me at the Plus Size stores. My friend has always been a size 6-8 and i have been a size 20+ since she met me, and now i am sporting a size 16 pant, and 14-16 tops or a L/XL. I find myself trying new styles and new colors/prints, something i would never do before. It's a whole new world out there and i'm so excited to be a part of it. My friend was pretty excited for me too, especially since now she has a shopping buddy too. Congrats on your weight loss and your shopping experience!!! ~Missy~

I haven't actually gone to the "store" yet, but someone gave me a lot of smaller clothes that I am trying. I would NEVER have worn capri pants before, but I tried them on the other night,a nd they are not too bad!! I find myself noticing what kind of shoes etc, to wear with those kinds of clothes. It is pretty fun, if not a "tad" stressful!!! Congrats on your success. I'll bet you look tooooooo cute in your new outfit!! Enjoy!!!
