Stopping in to say HI!
I was just thinking tonight of how much I miss posting here, and I thought I'd drop by to say HI!
First, I have broken the 200 lb barrier! I now weigh 198. I am thrilled!! Just in time for my 30th birthday! I bought some new pants and I can comfortably wear a size 18! And I can squeeze into a size 16 (but I can't breathe. .but who needs to breathe, right?? LOL)
Perhaps the best news is this. . My husband is having RNY surgery on Tuesday with Dr. Floyd!!! Dr. Floyd did my surgery, and I am pleased. He'll be doing Scott's surgery Tuesday morning. Scott has an EGD tomorrow.
Oh, and I had my EGD last Thursday. I do have one ulcer and the start of a second one. Dr. Floyd even took a picture of them for me. GAG!! LOL
Yes, right along with the pictures of my children, I have the pictures of my uclers! LOL
Anyway, ((( HUGS )))

Leslie,
Great to read your post. It sounds like a family affair. Hurray and I'm praying for you. If you have time let me know your ulcer systems. I've started having something different in the pouch. Discomfort worse after eating some nause just wondering if thiese are similr symtoms Love and best of luck Dolores
Well, the symptoms of my ulcer primarily hurt in the evenings and at night time. With the first attack, I was doubled over and crying. It hurt SO bad I could hardly stand it. Of course, I also had colitis at the same time.
Definitely could be an ulcer. I'd start charting it. .when does it act up? And what have you eaten?
You could also try an OTC proton pump inhibitor like Prilosec. I found that malox really soothes the "burn" with the ucler. It's a gnawing and horrid pain.
Best wishes,
Leslie
Sooooo glad to hear from you!! I've been missing you. Glad to hear you are doing well (besides the ulcers, ugh). Glad your hubby is going to have the surgery, too. That will help you both, I think! Hopefully you can change your eating habits enough so that your children will not have to go through this!! I know that it is hard for you to post, but thanks for "checking in" and let us hear from you again when you can. Pam
Thank you very much! I've missed you too!
It's so funny that you mention how our eating habits influence our children. Just TODAY, that hit home! Scott was being prepped for the EGD, and I and my four year old Tatum were just waiting. Well, Dr. Floyd got stuck in surgery and we had to wait longer.
It was almost noon, so I took Tatum to the hospital cafeteria to eat. I got a lasagna and ate the cheese and meat (didn't eat the noodles), while Tatum ate my bread and some squash. Well, as we are leaving, Tatum sees this piece of chocoate PIE! She asks for it. I thought "hmm. . bribery." I bet with that piece of pie, I can get her to sit quietly while we wait for Dr. Floyd to do Scott's EGD.
As we arrive back at the endoscopy room, they are just starting the procedure. (All I can say about that is thank God for Versed. . or no one would EVER have one of those things done! If you had to remember what it was like. . .)
Anyway, I had Tatum sit down to eat her piece of pie. ALL THE SUDDEN, it dawned on me that I AM teaching her bad eating habits. Here she is four years old, the child of two overweight parents, and I am bribing her with FOOD! It really made me think.
Anyway, I will post an update when he leaves the hospital.
