We run our own business AND have a 2 year old, so I don't get to these messageboards as much as I'd really like...but I think it's time to call in some reinforcements!! I had my surgery 9/21 and the weight just melted off...the first couple of months, I lost 60 lbs by Christmas!!! I was thrilled. NOW...I've been sitting at that same 60 lb loss every since and I don't know how to kick it. I have the hardest time finding Protien Supplements that I can choke down, I do better w/ Protein rich foods, but I just can't eat enough food to get all of that in. I need ideas! To add to this, I read some of the other posts about the hormones, munchies, mood swings, etc...OH MY GOSH, do I feel relieved! I thought I was going off the deep end. I am not necessarily 'glad', but I feel better knowing it's not just me! I have had the craziest cravings for salt/sweet the last couple of months, of course that makes me more frustrated because then I blame my plateau on that...it's really nerve-wracking and my poor husband and son don't know if I'm coming or going, they're constantly on egg-shells around me, and that's not what this process was suppose to be about!! SOOO...I need some guidance on how to get through these hard times. My Insurance from my former employer ended, so I can't even really get in to see my Dr, which adds to my irritation, LOL. Any insight or words of confidence, you'd be my Angel!! Lots of Love, Kalisha

Oh my go****hink I wrote this post!!! We had our surgery the same day, and my body is doing the SAME freaking thing!!!! I don't have any advice. I've done the 'plateau buster' thing, I've gone back to liquids/soft foods for a week, I've upped the calories (pre the RD), and I still am stuck. I'm just patiently (yeah, right) waiting for my body to adjust and drop some more. I'll be thinking of you!!! Katie

Hey guys I had surgery the day before the two of you and I have done just about the same thing. I have only lost 8lbs. since christmas. Total loss of 66lbs. I think our body just has to play catch up. I believe we will start losing again just try to excercise and get the protein in. I just ordered some protein nectar on line I have heard alot of people love it. I also have all the mood swings and munchie periods. My Dr. also said lots of water. Helps flush out the fat. We can do this!!!!!!! good luck Tina

Hi Kalisha - First of all let's put things in perspective - CONGRATS on losing 60 pounds! That's a super accomplishment even though I know you are frustrated that you have not lost more. Your body is surely adjusting to your rapid weight loss. I don't know what your starting weight was or your BMI but is it possible that your body is telling you that you have reached a weight that you can comfortably live with for the rest of your life? If not . . . You might want to make up a "daily food diary" and write down every morsel that you put in your mouth for a week or so and evaluate it with respect to carbs, protein and calories. You may be eating more than you think or even less than you think! What about exercise? Maybe you could add in something aerobic to whatever you're doing now to rev up your metabolism. As for the sweet/salty cravings, I'm sure we all are facing that. Maybe we should do a poll on everyone's favorites. As for me, when I get that salty/crunchy craving which is usually mid-afternoon, I usually have a handful of smoked almonds or pistachios. For that sweet craving I get at night I'll have a cup of my favorite tea (Stash's Licorice Spice) and a couple of little pieces of that Russel Stover sugar-free candy (they're the size of Jolly Ranchers), the dark chocolate is to die for, tastes like a Dove bar, or I'll have a Starbucks sugar-free Cafe Vanilla pop. Maybe you could call your surgeon and explain your insurance situation and perhaps he would agree to see you for a reduced fee? My OB/GYN agreed to that last year when she no longer accepted my insurance and I was very grateful. It can't hurt to ask! Good luck and don't be so hard on yourself! Shake things up and you may get the results you want! Hugs, Sandy

(((( )))) Group HUUUUUUGGGGGGGG! It's gotta be the crazy hormones being flushed from our burning fat into our bloodstreams. I'm convinced. This too shall pass.... RIGHT????? PLEASE TELL ME IT WILL PASS! Hot tea, iced coffee, protein bars help me. Maybe we need to arrange for a chat time to meet? Maybe if we all talk this stuff out we'll feel better. I hope things get better for you, and all our fellow nutty chicks out there. Or maybe we should pray for our families??? Seriously, it's not as bad as it sounds, at least in my case, but some days can be pretty trying. ~Sue

Well, welcome to the CLUB!!! Bless your heart. At least we are ALL in this together. Misery truly does love company!!! I agree with the one who posted about checking on your calorie counts. Either too many, or too few can cause a stall. I stalled for several weeks at 55 lbs. but I just KNEW that I was doing all the right things and it had to start moving again, and sure enough.... Pretty soon I started losing again and when I did it was pretty rapid. I've lost another 20 lbs. since Christmas, but I am sorta "stuck" at 75 for now. My surgeon did tell me that our bodies have to play "catch up" and that if we will just keep on keeping on that this HAS to work!! I am encouraged when I read about the people who have reached goal, because I know that they all went through this, too, and they made it. So will we!!! "Press on toward the mark..." Love, Pam
