Realistic weight loss goals.....

Since were on the topic of weight I was wondering if you all here have made or plan to make realistic weight goals??? I was reading one of those little charts that say's what I should weigh for my height, age and sex. I just think the 150's is insane. I set my own goal for 170. I feel like I would look sickly any lower. I've never ever been thin in my entire life so obviously I really have no idea what I would look like. I just didn't want to say oh I want to weigh 135 and never ever be able to get there and then feel like I failed. Of course that would mean I missed the point entirely since I should be proud of what I have accomplished so far. I have about 47 pounds to go before I make my goal. I have never been this close since I hit the obese mark which was probably like 12-13 years ago. Even if it stopped now I am closer then I ever was and owe it all to this surgery. So anyone else feel this way, make a goal, think i'm nut's let me know. Shannon 363/217/170

Hi Shannon I too have always been a thick girl. I could never Imagine myself @ 130 lbs!!! I think my bones weigh more than that. I'm pretty tall (5'7") So I think 175 will be good for me. I want to be svelte, not skinny, I would still like to have some curves. I'm @ 204 now and can't ever remember being this small. I graduated from high school almost 6 yrs ago and I'm smaller now than I was then. It feels GREAT!!!! I have 29 more lbs left and i must admit that I've gotten a little lax in my excersize, but I'm back on track now!!! Good luck and I know that we can do it!! You're not nuts, just realistic in my opinion ~Jae 275/204/175

For me , I have not been fat all my life. I have weighed the small numbers about 7 years ago. So I am 5 ft 10 and 150 # I looked anorexic. But the doc says I can go that far down and still be healthy. Personally I am going for 170. I think you need to feel what is best for you. I have seen some people who look gross because they are too thin. Scary looking. Feel out what is right.

So I went to see the doc today - and I asked him that same question. I was chunky growing up and got very heavy over the years. I'm 5' 2" and asked him what is my ideal weight - he said that's 98 lbs!!! Yikes! But my goal weight would be 147 and I was thinking that if I can get to 135 that would work for me...so I have about 65 lbs more lbs to go. Either way 135 or 147 will work for me - as long as he's happy with my progress as well.

I agree with you 100% I am waiting to see what my body settles at and I'll take it from there. As a shorty, I have less room to hide the pounds, but I already feel so much better, at least in clothes! My weight range according to charts can range from 95 to 135 lbs. I think I would be happy anywhere in that range, and maybe even a bit above it. The adventure continues... ~Sue

About ten years ago I lost down to 160 lbs. doing Weigh****chers and I looked pretty good. But, I gained it all back and then some over the course of the next year and a half. This time, I would like to go to 135. I am 5'2" and that is the "top of the range" for my age and height. I don't really want to be "skinny", I just don't want to be in the "overweight" range anymore!!!
