Hey all Just wanted to know if any of you other sept newborn's were feeling hungry alot and what do yo eat on a normal daily basis. Sometimes I feel like I am eating way to much. I work the grave yard shift and I feel like I am eating all the time. HELP! Here is what I ate yesterday. starting at midnight- 12 oz water 2am-handfull of cashews 3am-12 oz water 7am- protein bar (Quaker Q-smart) 4pm- 1oz cheese stick, 12oz water 7pm- half a hamburger on bun 10pm- 12 oz water started all over again at midnight. I have lost 70 lbs since my surgery but I feel like I am a slow loser. I just started exercising 2 weeks ago at the gym. I hope it helps! Thanks Teresa

Teresa- I was starting to get hungry about 3 weeks ago, luckily that was just in time for one of my post op visits. I asked my surgeon if I was eating too much. The surgeon said look at how much you are actually eating now as compared to what you were eating before surgery. When I looked at it that way wow I wasnt eating that much after all. Please note that unlike some I dont measure anything I eat. I just eat till I am full and then stop. My hubby and i have a lil thing going...if I make any comment that is like this : "wow this is good but i should stop" he takes my plate and washes it. It really does help so I dont get back into old habits of trying to finish everything on my tiny plate. Rachel

Hum, I don't really think I eat that all that much but some day's I have more of a appetite then others. For instance yesterday I had a yogurt for breakfast a handful of goldfish for a snack 1/2 oz of chicken for lunch cause chicken never agree's with me 1/2 protein drink for snack pinto's and cheese and a burrito minus the flat bread. I only eat the inside of it, for supper and water in between. Yesterday was a not so much to eat day for me but I have other day's where I can eat more. I am not feeling good right now so that may be why I don't have much of a appetite. Shannon

I think that I am hungry all the time!! lol I REALLY do think that my vitamins make me hungry!! I know before surgery I would not take vitamins because they made me RAVENOUS, and I sure didn't need that!! It does not wound to me like you are eating a lot!!! I had 1/2 egg (because eggs do not sit too well with me) and about 1/4 c of hash browns and 1 piece of turkey bacon for breakfast. Then I had a cup of high protein hot chocolate for snack. For lunch I had 2 oz. hamburger patty, 1/4 cup macaroni and cheese, and 1/2 cup of shredded lettuce with dressing. I had a protein drink for snack, and I am not sure what I will have for supper. Probably some bean soup that was leftover from last night!! I will also have some high protein pudding before bedtime. That sounds like a huge amount of food, but really it is about 1100 calories. I have lost 75 lbs. since August, so I am a happy camper!!! Hope you are too.

yup these past few days I feel and have been eating a bit more than normal..I think for me it's hormonal. I follow my doc's orders by eating 3 meals 5oz each but this day for example: 2 HB egg whites, cup of cheerios (normal) sometimes switch to 2 turkey patties lunch: tunasalad, chicken salad or chicken breast with bottom bun today: went to Ponderosa had: Some salad with ranch dressing, 2 pieces of pineapple 4-5? oz chicken breast baked potatoe (couple of spoonfuls) 1hr 1/2 later 2 pieces of pineapple then just before dinner I had a large banana 2 spam pieces, 2 tostones (fried banana pieces) and a couple spoonful of fish normally for dinner i just have a small filet of fish from Gortons and I'm done. I really think I ate to much and my energy level is low. I only did 15 min on the treadmill. And I did get a bit naseaus. But my loss is also close to 70. I think this happens some days are better than other - and some days we can eat a bit more than others.

Hi! It doesn't sound to me like you are eating very much at all. I have been more hungry the last month too. I usually eat yogurt for breakfast and maybe one piece of bacon. At work I find myself grazing(I never did that pre-op) on trail mix, peanuts, oranges, banana and peanut butter ( maybe a Tbs.). For lunch if I have any it is usually whatever I am feeling hungry for......very spicy whatever....maybe a small salad with some cheese and meat on it. Or maybe just soup. I just eat whatver my body seems to be telling me to eat. Sometimes its just green beans. Lately it has been oranges. I recently found some great vitamins. They are liquid and easy to drink in a small amount of juice. I get them at the health food store and they are cherry flavored. I also am pushing the calcium chews. I too sometimes feel as tho I am eating too much but I continue to lose about 2 pounds a week and feel okay. Yesterday I had Chinese food - fried rice, chow mein, garlic chicken and some barbecued pork slices - slathered in chinese hot mustard. I felt like a ate to much but when I really stop and think about it I am not eating a 10th of what I would have before. I am trying to learn how to stop before I feel full. That is really difficult I guess but I am trying. Good luck to you I hope you are a big LOSER!!!

Hi Teresa I was so happy to see your poll! YAY! I love this process of sharing our experiences... (can ya all tell???) Congrats on your 70 lb weight loss so far, you are doing great! It seems like you are eating just fine for this stage as far as I know. My hunger seems to go up and down day to day, I have some days where I almost struggle to not eat too often, and other days when it all seems so easy. A typical day for me is... 8am- after kids go to school, I have hot tea every morning-0 calories 10am- I might have from one half to one whole protein bar-aprox 190 calories if I eat the whole bar. If I eat half, I usually have the rest later. Sometimes instead of this I'll have an egg on toast, or 1/2 cupcottage cheese and 1/2 banana. Lunch- either part of a low carb lean cuisine, or some kind of protein, such as a piece of swiss cheese and a slice or two of turkey lunchmeat, maybe a few Ka****LC crackers with that. Usually around 250 calories at the most. Afternoon Snac****d coffee with half and half and splenda- Or I often have soup. No creamy types. Dinner- Some of the meat and veggies of whatever my family is having, sometimes a chicken fajita pita from jack inthe box Another snack at some point during the day , such as some apple and cheese. hot tea again at night. I eat about 1150 calories a day. Some days a bit more, some days less. I work out for a little over an hour 2-5 times per week. I've lost 63 lbs. Thanks for asking this, it's very interesting to see what works for others. ~Sue

Well I guess what I have been feeling is real hunger and not head hunger so much anymore. I usually drink decaf hot tea when I get hungry. I feel like I have been a pig sometimes when I eat because it takes so long, but when I add up the calories for the day I am usually between 500 and 1000 calories. Milk seems to add on the extra calories so I try not to do that too much although I love it. NOW... don't laugh too hard, but I figured I wouldn't be eating much for the first two years so I am getting braces on next week and I will have them on for about 18 months. Funny thing is since they put spacers in last week, I cannot chew at all. It is pathetic and I feel like a wimp that I cannot chew. I have been on shakes, soups and mushy avocados, which are not good for protein or calories, but if I need to feel something solid - that is what I reach for. So I have inadvertently gone back to phase one and will be stuck on that for two more weeks. They tell me I will feel like chewing again about a week after the braces are on. I don't know how I would have gotten through this if I hadn't gotten the braces AFTER WLS. What is really funny is this may help me lose more weight because I am loading up on protein shakes since I can't do the solid foods. I tried salad last week and it knocked my spacer out and I had to go back to the orthodontist. That is when we all decided that I would stay away from food that you chew. Laura 330/213/140?
