I don't know what I am doing wrong. I was told by my doctor to increase protein so I started to eat peanut butter. I eat two crackers at breakfast with lots of peanut butter. I started this last week and since then I have not lost and gained two pounds. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Other than that I do not eat much. I do not just stick to meats. I eat a little of everything except for sweets. I try and eat meat first but do take a stab at most foods just very little. I was fine until I started to eat the peanut butter. Has anyone gone through this. I started to lose hair and that is why he said to increase the protein. Any advice. I am done about 70 lbs most days except today that I gained two pounds. I started at about 241 and am currently 173. I was 171 and now I am totally in the dumps about it.

Hi Lorronica, Don't be so hard on yourself. I know it can be frustrating to see the scale move in the other direction, but it could just be water weight, i know the scale moves back and forth for me when it is around "that time of the month". Just don't get down on yourself and keep doing what you are doing. As for the peanut butter, i don't eat much of it. I eat a lot of cheese...i put cheese on just about everything. I often feel bloated or like i gained about 10 lbs, and i get on a scale and i'm still where i should be. I will also tell you what i know other people will tell you, which is stop depending on the scale so much. Lots of times even if the scale isn't moving, we are still losing inches all over. Do you exercise at all? I know that exercising helps. Cheer up and be proud of yourself and your accomplishments so far, you are doing great!!! Good Luck! ~Missy~

Thanks for the nice words of encouragement. I think that maybe it is time to start to exercise more. It is just hard. I work fulltime and go to college fulltime and have three kids 3, 9 and 10. I am wore out all the time. By the time I get home at 5:00 and start dinner, laundry and help with homework I am tired. I need to find more time in the day. I wake up at 5:30 or 6:00 and start the day by washing and folding clothes and out the door by 7:00. I am just doing to much. I am hoping when I graduate in July I will have more time for myself. Your so right about the inches though because my clothing is still getting bigger on me. Thanks again! Lorronica

Do not be so hard on yourself....first off i would never have gotten on a scale unless the dr made me before....and i bet the same things happened then, just that i had no clue...but now that i expect it to go only one way...and it goes the other...i was told peanut butter had to much fat for the protein...but i have had it...

I think your weight loss so far has been great. Honestly your not alone at all in this. I will weigh myself during the day be at say 224 then later on that night weigh myeslf and could be 226. When I was stuck at 229 for over 3 weeks sometimes at night i'd get on the scale and it would say 232. Enough to make a girl pass out. But it went away and I went down and I finally started to lose a little bit more. It is normal and we all go through it. If you think it is the peanut butter stop eating it and try getting the protein in some other way. Eggs, protein drinks, cheese, yogurt. They have a fruit smoothie now that has 13 grams of protein and 4 carbs at the market. Great way to add the protein and the whole thing is only 100 calories....... Shannon

Oh boy, there are many of us in the same boat, dearie! I just wrote to my other group about the same thing~! I've been flucuating between 292 and 296 for the last three weeks, and it's ******g me off!!! I'm pretty sure I'm in stall mode, so I'm trying to stay off the scales and just do what I need to do. I will say that I'm losing inches, though, judging by the way all my clothes feel. I just tried on a suit that was snug a month ago. I'm happy to say that I can feel my body moving around in it, and plan on wearing it next Sunday. I haven't really been exercising because of a cold I'm getting over, but everyone tells me that I shouldn't worry too much about that right now. So, here I go to get another shake after this breakfast: Herbal Tea Protein Shake (30g) I can of Kippers Vitamins 1 bottle of water After this shake, I'll probably have peanut butter crackers (5), followed by my vitamins and another bottle of water. It would feel so monotonous if the scale would just act right !LOL Grace

I do think the peanut butter may be causing some of your problem. It has LOTS of fat and LOTS of sodium which can cause water weight gain. My nutritionist told me not to eat anything which contains more than 6 grams of sugar (except for skim milk which has 12). I don't stick STRICTLY to that, but I do try to be "aware" of it. I agree with the person who said try the protein shakes or the protein bars to get extra protein. I like "Proplete Gold" shake mix and the "Slimwhey" bars. Some of the bars taste like cardboard, so don't buy a whole box of them until you have tried them. Same with the shake mix. Try some samples first until you find one that you like. Good luck. You are doing great!!!
