Hi Everyone, I dont' post much, pretty much a lurker. But, I need a pep talk! I started out at 273 on surgery morning and now according to a friends scale I am 216! Down 57 pounds.. sounds great right???? I know everyone is different and was really happy about my loss until I started reading how successful everyone else is: down 100 plus or down 70... I get my protein in (almost always) and am pretty close with the liquids, sometimes all of it sometimes just a little shy. I am active but not enough, so I know that is where I can do better. Thanks in advance for the encouragement, Karen

I don't want to come off ungrateful because I am one of those whose lost a good amount, however I did start off at 363 pounds. But there are day's when I am so upset and so discouraged. I never talk about my weight loss on here because there are people who feel bad when they look at their weight loss compared to mine. I believe everyone here is doing amazingly no matter how much they've lost. I am proud of us all. I think that no matter what weight we are all at that sometimes day's just aren't positive and that is life. No one in this world goes through every day of their life happy. Starting this past Monday I made a pact with myself to up my calories and increase my protein. Because I have been focusing on that I am not obsessing about the scale. The last 2-3 weeks I was beyond depressed and now I just feel good about me. Who know's what next week will be like but I am trying to take it one day at a time. Karen, The fact that you went through with the surgery was amazing in and of itself. Now your losing weight and even though it isn't super fast the wonderful thing about it is that your going to keep it off and your going to be successful at it. You should be proud of yourself. If there is anything else I can do or say to make your feel better let me know. Keep up the great work.... Shannon

pep talks r us! Karen, you ARE doing great! I checked my chart, and at your point in the journey (I am 24 days ahead of you) I was almost exactly where you are. It sounds like you are doing good on the eating, and you say you could move a bit more, so focus on that. Not just for weight loss, but for strength, and energy, and better metabolism and just to challenge yourself a bit to stay disciplined. You will continue to lose, don't get discouraged. We all do this at our own pace, we all have a unique anatomy change and as long as it's working, don't think of it as any kind of race you need to keep up in to be successful. You are almost in ONEderland and you'd better post with a big happy face when you are in those 100's! Not too much longer. Since you are losing at about my rate, you should be seeing the 100's by mid April! YES!!!!!!!!! How exciting is that!!!!!!!!!! ~Sue

I am so looking forward to ONEderland! I remember being 190 my junior year in college... although I was on my way up at that point. This time around 190 is going to feel great! My ultimate goal is 145's... although I have not been in the 140's at any point in my adult life. I do remember being 163 for a minute when I was a sophomore in college and that was amazing. So really 140 - 160 I would be super happy. Thank you for the encouragement! Karen

Hi Karen, We are surgery twins. I had my surgery same day as you. I weighed 264 day of surgery and 215 today. Sounds REALLY familiar doesn't it? How many calories are you eating? I upped mine from 900 to 1100 and that did get me off of a plateau!! I think you are doing GREAT!! Just think.... If not for the surgery, you probably would have lost and gained 20 lbs. at least 4 times by now!!! LOL

Hi Pamela, Our numbers are really close... It is nice to know that I am not off track. I really do need to move more, I want to take full advantage of the surgery while we are in the 12-15 month window. I don't count calories really, I count protein. I try for a minimum of 60g of protein, but shoot for the 70's. Just last night though I was thinking of keeping a food log instead of just counting my protein. I think I will try fitday.com. Thank you for letting me know that we are in the same boat! I no longer feel like I am sinking! Karen

Hi Karen, We had surgery on the same day, I started at 278 and am down to 212 as of this morning. I also could move a little bit more and am working on that. You are doing great, keep up the great work. I get down to sometimes but we are all different and will lose different. But the common thing is we are all losing. Keep your chin up, I am sure you are feeling better and looking better. Keep that in the front of your mind. Hugs Sonya

Hey Karen! Chin UP!! I know it seems like the wt. loss is soooo slow, but you have done an amazing job up to now! We all have. I have lost around 60, but my OH angel had lost at least 85-90 when she was where I am now. I have just found that I can't compare myself to her or anyone else. I know that if we work hard and keep doing what we know we need to do everything will work out the way it is supposed to. Keep up the great work!!!! -KATIE
