I exercise several hours a day for results
Well it looks like WLS is definitely not the EASY WAY OUT!
I have been losing steadily for the past 4 months and at four months out I have lost 90 pounds. No it hasn't been easy!
I go to the gym at least 5 days a week and feel guilty everyday I am not in the gym.
First, I warm up on the elliptical glider for 15 minutes, I started out at only being able to do 3 minutes at a time.
After I get my heart rate up I proceed to the ladies room and blow the sweat off with the hand dryer while picking up my weight lifting gloves. I will lift weights and use the machines for at least one hour. Working arms then legs and repeat and repeat...........
Next, I walk the treadmill at 3.4 miles an hour until my knee gets to stiff to continue, usually less than two miles.
Finally, I head to the locker room to tear off those sweaty clothes and prepare for the hot tub.
Without this tub I would be hurting much more.
Now, on top of this workout I started attending college fitness classes, for more details on this check out my profiles latest entry. I attend 4 classes back-to-back, two days a week and 3 hours of tennis on Saturday morning.
In addition to this extensive workout I have visiting a physical therapist to finally address my chronic upper back pain, she has been teaching me how to move and strengthen my back muscles to avoid pain. I am in her "gym" three days a week for total of 3 hours.
So, if you want results I recommend increasing your activity everyday, push yourselves to new levels, and take care of your body by getting advice from the educated trainers. Doing the same thing everyday won't always give you the results you're looking for so mix it up and most importantly have fun.
Important tools needed for exercising; water, sweat rags-towels, MP3 player or music player, comfortable shoes and clothes, weight-lifting gloves, swimsuit, and the desire to be the best you can be!
I am 38 years old, for about 4 more months.

WOW Linda, you have been working hard. I exercised faithfully for about the fisrt month and a half after surgery. Now I'm like once every other week. Hubby and I are going to join the Y this week and that should be it for me. Since I can take my daughter there and they'll watch her for nothing so I will be able to do the exercising I want/need to do.
I wish I was as strict with myself as you are.
You have done an amazing job. Congratulations and keep it up, I bet you feel great!
God Bless!

Are you not making yourself weak with all the hard exercise?? I was doing cardio and weights but I was going through a stall and spoke with my trainer. He said since I can no longer eat like I did and am eating smaller amounts I don't need to workout as hard. So I do the fat burning mode on the treadmill and therabands with and without him, changed my eating habits and got out of the stall. I do occassionally like to run a bit so sometimes when I do the hr walk I mix it with first 30 min of cardio/run and then I slow down to my heart rate of 115. I think if I worked out as hard as you I would faint!! But congratulations to YOU!! Keep up the good work!
I can still eat enough and get in plenty of water. I was instructed to eat 1200 calories a day that is double what I hear most people eating. I keep strict food records in order to keep control of my PRO and calories. It's not that I am hungry, I have a tendancy to graze and I am using every tool available to avoid repeating the same bad behaviors. I was pretty surprised that I can do so much with that amount of calories too. I am determined to get to my goal weight while changing all those bad behaviors that put me in the super morbidly obese catagory.
I am making alot of calls and I am looking forward to a busy night I hope this made sense, I feel I addressed what you commented about, but if not just drop me a line.
WOW SWEETIE!!! You are WONDERFUL!!!!
Now, you ARE making sure you are intaking enough calories to sustain yourself with all the calories you're burning? I'm only walking still and they upped me to 1000 - 1200 calories because I was stalling at that. You're GREAT!!!!!

Hiya Katie Thanks looks like your doing great too. My surgical team doesn't believe in increasing calories to break a stall, only moving more and that's okay with me. These activities are not new to me I am just now able to have a more sustained session. I imagine I will slow down with the weight training but for now I need to keep busy and take advantage of the Honeymoon period.
And as I said to the previous poster;
