Help!!
HELP!! HELP!! HELP!! HELP!!
I am 4 months post-op and haven't lost even a lb in the past 3 weeks.
I am getting almost all my protein in, and all my water plus some.
Started exercising 3 weeks ago, 7 days a week faithfully. 3 miles on the treadmill and or bike.
I have been told that it is a plateau. How long does these last? What can I do to start losing again?
Any & all help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
~Jo~

Jo,
Hang in there. At four months I slowed down to a craw but one day it just started to come off again. I really had not changed anything. Your body takes breaks from losing but it all adds up in the end. Stay off the scales and measure your self. I bet your cloths feel different even though the scales stays the same. It will come off Dolores
I am so glad to see your post. I think I am on a plateau as well. No wt. loss in 2.5 weeks. I have been freaking out a little. I cant wait til this passes. Also, I went shopping today and I am so worried the bottom 1/2 of my body will never be as small as the top!!
I guess we should just keep doing what we know we should.
Thanks for letting me vent!

I am in the same boat. I've increased the protein, added even more water and exercise. I am coming to terms with the fact that my body is trying to catch up with what I have lost so far and when it does I will start losing again. If I don't think that I will go insane.....
Wish you the best and you start losing soon.
Shannon
Dear Jo,
I am also stuck!!!!!!! My surgery was three days after yours. I have only lost 59 lbs. and have been stuck for the last 4 weeks. It looks like you have lost a wonderful amount of weight, congratulations. I go to "curves" three days a week and walk (1 to 2 miles) three times a week. I looked at the rest of the replys to your post and it looks like several of us are in the same boat. I am trying not to worry for all the reasons that they gave you. I am going to get measured at "curves" tomorrow and then I will see if indeed I have lost inches. I am also worried about that. The idea that muscle weighs more that fat must be the reason we are not seeing the scale go down. All our excercise must be working for us. It should be good for our skin to take a little break so it can shrink a little. I seem to have developed alot of wrinkles!! I guess they were always there, but were filled out with fat.
I think I will go look at the July 2004 board and see if those people have started losing lbs. again. Hope it makes me feel better.
Good luck to you, you sound like a very nice person, Susan
I am also just four months out. Mine plateau lasted about 4 weeks. I execise 5 days a week. I did start to increase my water and my protein and low and behold on Wednesday I droped 4 lbs and this morning I'm down another half pound so I think the dam finally broke and I'm on the way to losing again. Hang in there. Waiting it out is the hardest. This whole waiting period my cloths kept getting loser though so I something was working I'm just addicted to those scales. Good luck.
HI JO!! YOU ARE NOT ALONE. We all have those slow-stall periods. I was freakin out when I started mine. I was thinking 'How can the heck this happen? I'm eating right/better and EXERCISING hard!' But then when I talked to my trainer he said - If I'm eating right then I don't have to exercise soo hard. I was doing cardio/running a bit and weights. He said that since I don't eat as I used to - very little that working out to hard can actually slow down things. I need to work smarter not harder. And then for me - add diabetes which also works against the metabolism - well needless to say I'm not happy about that. So I have to ask God to give me the strength to deal with what I can't change. What I do now is I have continued to exercise but I take it slower (fat burning mode) on the treadmill, and I do light therabands exercises till I see the trainer, and that pulled me out of the stall. Also, it's good to change your routine as well as what you eat. The actual plateau won't happen until your body says that that's what you're gonna weight (that's what I heard). So keep pluggin on. Keep doing what you're doing and this ole body will have to respond! Keep us posted.
i have been on a stall since 12-31-04 i cant call it a Plateau til 01-31-05 bc it has to be 4 wks before you can call it a plateau.... So it stinks but just bc the scale isnt moving the body inches are.... thats why i love this surgery... bc i know either way i am losing.... so keep working out keep with the protein keep with the water bc those help a lot... so either way ur losin be proud you have ncame too far to not be proud ... so here is a hug for you.... and hang in there
