MINI GOALS

I seem to have issues with setting short goals.....though i did think of one today...I am at 192 and the word obese is still in my BMI so my goal is to get rid of the word obese in my BMI and get to plain ole overweight... I also feel setting a time on these mini goals is a problem as...not sure exactly how much control i have over the weight loss at this time..though i now do feel more control over it that I had not been feeling.... and i did meet my last mini goal a week ahead of time..that was getting under 200 for the new year... How do you go about setting a mini goal? and do you feel at 4 months out you have more control over the weight loss?

I was thinking about this and I feel that being classified as just overweight is major. I too and doing that as my mini goal. I am not sure how much weight I need to lose let me figure that out......... I weigh 229 now and I need to get to 195 to finally be classified as "overweight", so that's 34 pounds. Very doable. I'm not too good at setting mini-goals either. I do NOT feel that I have much control over the weight loss, even almost 4 months out. I'm just losing, and that is very important to me!! I do hope to be at -75 lbs. by my birthday (1-28-05) but if it happens fine, and if not fine. I am at 66 now, so it COULD happen, but we'll see! I am excited at the thought of being below 200, so I guess that is a goal, but I don't have a time-frame on it.

Hi Tweety So far my mini goals have been weights I remember being at for a long while once before. For example, right now I am 171 and I was 172 when I met my husband. All through high school I was 145, so that is probably my next goal. To answer your second question about how much control I have over the weight loss at four months out... I actually feel I am in better control now than I have been throughout this process. I feel I am in a routine now, I am less panicky, I've become comfortable with exercise and for some reason, my appetite has even seemed to decrease recently. Congrats on being in ONEderland, by the way! That was one of my mini goals also, and it was a ONEderful moment when I achieved it! Keep up the good work everyone! Love, Sue

Guess what'd I would have to say to this because I am a firm believer in goal setting (mini and long-term). I have a diary that every month I update with new goals. But, don't forget with your goals to give yourself small rewards. The psychiatrist I saw before my surgery actually agreed that we should reward ourselves even through our weightloss with the surgery. For instance, when I got to 199, I got my nails done. I love having my nails done and I had been waiting - felt like forever. I had the money to do it, I was just waiting for it to be a reward instead of just being something I did, you know? When I get to my goal weight, I get a whole spa treatment. Never had one before, I'm so excited. Good luck, Trudi
