Peptic ulcer and colitis
Well, I got to spend last night at the hospital.
I began having HORRID stomach pains yesterday evening. I was doubled over and near tears. I just knew that my pouch had exploded or something.
My mom took me to the Urgent Care clinic, and the dr did a bunch of tests. Evidently, my arthritis medicine, Relafen, has caused an ulcer in my pouch. This has been quite painful! And I have colitis.
I am off all arthritis medication for the next week, and then I will start celebrex. the dr also gave me and Rx for nexium to help the ucler heal.
Since I have multiple sclerosis and am testing ++ for the antibodies in lupus, THIS ulcer and colitis is all I need (not)!
Anyway, has anyone else had experience with an ulcer in your pouch? How did you modify your diet?
Geeze when it rains it pours. I haven't experienced anything like that but I am sure it is no picnic. As of late I have been getting pains on both sides of my sides. I am suppose to be going for an U/S but haven't had a call back from my surgeon's office or the hospital where it will be done in over 3 weeks. I keep calling but no one is ever there. Hopefully the meds they give you to clear it up will take the pain and the ulcer away very quickly. Sometimes it seems, well a lot of times it seems that one medication can cause some other kind of ailment. So you fix one thing and it causes something else.
Try to take it as easy as you can and get better fast.....

Me too! Had to be the Bextra. I had a scope and was tested for h. pylori again. no h. pylori so probably the bextra. The ulcer actually ate a hole between my pouch and my stomach. Painful! I agree. I just had another scope and it showed the ulcer was healed. The hole is closing so I stay on the nexium and carafate until next month and then I get scoped again. Scopes are easy. No pain except for a slightly sore throat afterwards. I am down 101 lbs since May when I first walked into my doctors office! I would do it all again, ulcer or not!
