Weird cravings...help!

First let me say that I am not a person who likes hot drinks except for broth. Coffee, tea, cocoa never did it for me. But for some reason, these past 2 weeks, I have been craving hot things. And not the above mentioned. I drink a coffee cupful of gravy, or spaghettie sauce, chili broth, things like that. I have even melted cheez whiz with milk and drank that. My family think I am nuts but it satisfies something in me that just eating the food doesn't. I have also been craving and eating green olives. I share them with my cat but eat at least 4 a day. Is there something wrong with me? Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thanks, Doreen

Did ya rule out pregnancy? I am sure that makes you think I am nuts but weird cravings were my sign. Maybe it is your body's way of reacting to the weight loss. Does any of this make you feel normal? hehehehe Honestly I don't know but I don't see all that much harm in it as long as you keep it healthy. My mother made meatballs with her homemade sauce not that long ago and I really couldn't get enough of her sauce. It was so yummy. One thing I find is that when I have a food that tastes good to me I tend to eat it a lot because these days there aren't many favorites that I can tolerate. Not because of the fat etc but just because my taste buds don't enjoy the food as they once did. Shannon

Hey Doreen, Right after surgery I craved weird things, but it has calmed down alot. My biggest craving was spicy pickles. Now I just crave flavor. Bland foods dont seem to be worth my time. Good luck with the cravings! Your family may think your weird but whatever works for you! With love, Em

Hi Doreen! I am craving salads unbelieveable!! I want it sooo bad I can almost taste it...literally....Although salads are a big NO NO for me until another month or two. I think cravings are normal. Erin

Hi Doreen, I just went through a green olive kick about 2 weeks ago. I ate a few at my parents house and the next day I had to go buy some. I was really bad tho, for 2 days all I ate was olives and cheese and of course my protien shakes. I also gained 10lb in water weight from all the salt in them. DUHHHHHH, what was I thinkin I lost the weight right after I quit eating them, but it sure did freak me out. So be carefull with those green olives. Take care..........Amanda

I have to say the green olive thing makes me think of salt and the possibility of low iron... Just a thought... God Bless! Jo

Hmmmmm, low iron never even crossed my mind. I go to have all my labs done next week, I'll be curious to see what they say. Im still craving salty things really bad, but have been staying away from them.

I crave green olives like crazy too. I have 1 or 2 large ones a couple times a week now. I am really craving steak and salad too. I used to love salad and filet and spinach for dinner (why was I fat?) and I know I can't have the raw veggies right now but I was jonesing bad when my fiance was eating dinner. I love raw veggies. I took care of my craving for steak last night and had about 3 ounces of filet and it was delicious. I know I was supposed to wait a year but I cut it into pea size portions and chewed it like crazy. I will be good about the salad and wait till March. When I start craving salad I eat cooked spinach and it diminishes the craving a bit. I also crave orange juice but haven't had any (except for while I was in the hospital and they told me to have some since I hadn't eaten all day). I would just about beg for some grapefruit right now too. Dang... now I have head hunger bad!!!

I like cream cheese and sour cream, I take sour crean to work for lunch and it makes people sick. I like it, I also have been on a popcorn thing I do good with the carb's but let myself have this once or twice a week, Then I usaly lose . Dont under stand but okay.The day's that I think that I have ate to much I end up losing the next day, I think we need to remember to mix thing's up. I am bad about eating the samething day after day. michelle hall
