Almost scared...
Christine,
It's great to see that I am not alone. I also can eat most anything ( I want). I craved meat from the start and the first thing I had when I could was ground beef. I still crave it! I am having a "thing" with chicken. I loved it before surgery and now I avoid it at all cost! Perhaps it's chewier or stringy or something...but beef, no problem. I even have been having a cup or so of Healthy Choice popcorn! It's wonderful and 0 fat!
I can't say that I am ever really full...or really hungry. I stop before the full feeling because I know what it is like to over eat
I have to slow myself down when I eat too...old habits die hard.
I appreciate this thread. It was worrying me. I now know that I am not alone.
Hugs

Rosey,
I just read your profile. What an amazing journey you have had! I'm so glad you are feeling so much better. My mom had to have a kidney transplant due to her diabetes, and I know how sick she was before all that when her kidneys weren't working. In fact, that is one of the main things that convinced me to get this surgery as well, since I am diabetic too and was headed down her same road. Anyway, how wonderful that you found your surgeon and were able to have your revision in time to save your kidney! I wish you continued health!

Hi Christine! First of all dont be sorry that youthink your problem is trivial. Its a legitimate concern first and second that is what we are all here for. I will tell you that I do not have any problems with any foods at all either. I just stick with the diet given to me and I avoid high fat and sugar foods as well as limiting the carbs ALOT. I sneak a bite or two of stuff now and then but only a taste and it satisfies me. I do not want to find out what dumping feels like. To be truthful, I am having alot of trouble eating enough food. I get all of my water and protein everyday (protein is from a shake mostly and the rest is from food that I do manage to choke down) but do you find that you are having this trouble at all? I know if I dont eat enough I wont lose weight but its so hard sometimes I can barely get the food down.
Hope this helps you,
Love AMybee

Amy...
First, thanks for the words of support and encouragement.
Second, congrats on the weight loss...
I too have problems eating enough food. At this stage, I am supposed to be eating 3 meals and 3 snacks and I just cannot do it but am getting better. I was panicked for a while when the dietician said no more shakes, that I should be getting all of my 60 grams of protein from "real" food. That was stressful, especially since breakfast has never been a good time of the day to eat (I get nauseous from food early in the day) and I had been drinking protein shakes for my morning meal for years before surgery. Then the nurse from Dr. Chiang's office said a protein shake would be fine...especially since without them, there was no way I could comfortably get a breakfast in. I found a great chocolate protein shake mix that I combine with milk and ice, it also helps getting those pills down in the am. This powder has 55 gms of protein in 2 scoops but I usually go with about 1.5.
Anyhow, as far as food goes, it gets better everyday and I just keep working on it. I guess I should really be happy that besides not getting enough in, I do not have much trouble with food...in fact, I am.
Thanks to all of you who have been so supporting and encouraging. I really love this place and the community that we have become. No one else besides those that have been through it understands the experience like we do. What would I do without this place?!?
Take care all...
Christine
