3 and a half months
I had surgery on 9/14/04 and have lost 70 lbs. I am below 200 lbs for the first time in 12 years. I haven't had any major complications. I am able to eat most everything; beef, chicken, pork, and breads. I haven't found anything that my stomach can't handle as long as I pay attention to my new stomach and not over fill the pouch. I have found that some foods don't taste the same anymore where other things taste better. I am still having problems with dry skin. I can't seem to keep enough moisture in my skin. Is there anyone else having this problem?
I have been reading the posts on our reunion board, but this is the first time that I actually got up the nerve to post my update. I am glad to see that everyone who had surgery in September is doing so well.

I had surgery 9/9/04...not too far ahead of you. I am not below 200 yet but will be in eight more pounds! For the first time in 20 years I will weigh less than 200. I still cannot eat beef of any kind or any kind of sauce (taco, spaghetti, ****tail, etc) Every one of those makes me sick. I eat a lot of ground turkey and a lot of chicken. Dry skin is a real isue with me also. My doctor said I need to drink more water and I already drink anywhere from 64-100 oz a day. I found that the new Oil of Olay body quench lotion has been helping me. I would spend hours scratching my legs at night and they seem to have gotten better with this stuff. I usually put it on every night right after my shower. Also Wal Mart has a skin oil with sesame oil in it...in the same section where they sell the Rainbath brand oil but it is Wal Marts brand and it seems to help also if I put it on while I am still wet from the shower and rub it in. Hope that helps!
OMG, y'all sound just like me. This is the first time I have found this forum. I had surgery on 9/28 and am down 74 pounds so far. I too am just now under 200 pounds for the first time in about 15 years. It is so exciting. I actually FIT into a 16, a far cry from the 22/24 I was wearing. I am so happy to hear from people just like me.
I haven't experienced dry skin, but rather my skin continues to be oily. It would seem that not being able to eat much, that the oily skin would go away. I wish I knew some remedy for dry skin...heck, I wish I could send you some of my oils ... LOL. I'll keep my eyes open for you, though.
I hope I am posting these numbers right, please tell me if not. Is it Pre/current/goal weights? Thank you.
God bless y'all,
Trudi
