Question about Calcium Citrate and Eating..
My question is what do you take to get your calcium citrate in?.. I am taking Citracal but honestly they are hard to get down even after being split in 4 pieces..
My other question is I am having a hard time eating meat.. My surgeon told me that was perfectly normal and I may never eat meat again.. Is or has anyone gone thru this?.. Hope everyone is well.. Thank You...

Hi Shannon,
I take calcium citrate chewable wafers by twin labs. (got them at Vitamin Shoppe) They taste like a giant sweet tart but are only ten calories total for all four wafers you need a day. Candy that's good for you, ya gotta love that. I think I paid $12 for 60 wafers. That's only a 15 day supply if you take four a day. Since I am eating quite a bit of real food, I don't take four a day, I probably average about two a day. They're a bit pricey.
As far as meat is concerned, I usually do fine if I chew it up really well. I have heard of many people having problems with meat or chicken even long term. I guess it can be a "normal" side effect for some after surgery.

I can't swallow large pills yet... okay I haven't tried, but it took me so long to be able to swallow the smallest of pills, I'm guessing it might be a prob.
I have the twin lab chewables and HATE them! It's funny how we all are so diverse in our preferences. My solution was a liquid. I'd rather gag a swig down than endure chewing 4 of those huge tablets!

I can't keep many meats down either. I do well with most foods - but meat is generally a no-go. I have found that some fish (crab, tuna, salmon) will stay down in small quantities if I mix it up with other things.... take a bite of fish, then several of salad. For the most part tho it doesn't matter how much I chew... I can't keep meats down. You are not alone!
Take care!
