hi, haven't posted in a while. my partner had breast surgery yesterday and then when we came home, my 20 month old had spiked 103.3 at daycare. so everyone's a little listless today. when i was at the pharmacy picking up her pain meds, i did some stocking stuffer shopping and came across the sf reeses. the serving size is 5 (they're miniatures) and i haven't had anything 'bad' in the 3 months so i thought i would try them. they're made with malitol. about 5 hours later, i was in the bathroom for a long time - they act like a laxative. this morning i was fine and my body functioned normally, if you know what i mean! that bag of reeses are in the trash. i had bought some nature crystals and honey and chocolate chips made with malitol that i am going to try and return. taking the baby to the dr in an hour. susan

Hi Susan! Sorry to here that you've got a listless family today, I hope you all recover quickly. As for the reeses, how many did you eat? If you ate 5 at once I am not surprised you had a bad reaction as I know it would have given me gas that would leaving me wishing I would explode and be done with it! Typically if you stick with just 1 or 2 you won't get the laxative affect. I've been a diabetic for years and know that sf candies should be approached with EXTREME caution. I wouldn't throw them away, I'd just keep them for emergency chocolate fixes and limit the intake. Julia

Prayers for your partner...I was told to count anything sugar..in my 5 grams per serving..I just have no desire for sugars..but sugar alcohols no matter what they call them are sugars..i have seen suagr free and real the label and be 13 grams of some sort of sweetner..heck i had 3 slices of an orange and was violently sick for 7 hours...no sleep what so ever...not sure where all that came from..

Hey Susan, Good to hear from you! Sorry the baby's sick and I hope your partner is on the mend from her surgery. You guys should all take it easy and nest a bit! Hopefully you'll have some time to do that. At least it's the weekend! i've tried the reese's, though I've never had more than one at a time. The first time, I had a similar reaction as you did, but I wasn't sure if it was the one reese's that did it or not because the second time, I didn't notice anything different. You may want to keep them in case things get stopped up... I've heard of people using them for constipation before. If you can do without that stuff, it's probably best to avoid it though... Hope baby's dr check goes well, tis the season to get sick! Sending healthy vibes to your house!}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} ~Sue
