I need some suggestions on how to get in enough protein a day. My doctor says no shakes, to get all protein in from food. I am 2.5 months out and have only lost 48 pounds so far. I started at 292 pounds, i feel like i am loosing so slow. Any help would be appricated. Thanks. Robin

Hi Robin, I am a week away from my 3 mo. anniversary and have only lost 44 lbs. so we are losing at about the same rate. Sorry to hear you're having challenges, yet it seems to be something we all go through at different times. Have you tried Jay Robbs UNFLAVORED egg-white protein? Every day I put 3/4 of a scoop into a packet of low sugar apple-cinnamon oatmeal, topped with a few almond slivers and flax seed and it tastes great! Not to mention there's over 25 grams of protein in the one serving! I also use (1) scoop of the unflavored egg white protein with Balance chocolate protein shake mix and that is very good. The unflavored egg white mix also does well in cream soups. I also eat low-fat canadian ham with motzarella cheese for lunch, both of which have protein. If I didn't supplement with the unflavored egg white protein, I doubt I could get all my protein from food...and sometimes I still don't. Good luck, finding the right foods seems to be an ongoing challenge! - DJ 250/206/150

I only ate protein from food for the past 3 months. Just recently started with the shakes. You can get it from turkey or ham lunchmeat, vienna sausages in a can , turkey pepperoni, fish has alot of protein. Most meats. Eat up !

I get most my protein from cheeses since I can not hold down meats yet. I also drink carbcountdown. I don't like the chocolate milk, but I do like the regular. I add canned evap milk to hot cereal and coffee. Nuts have good protein too - but are very high in cals and fat. So is cheese tho! Nancy

That's harsh - no shakes. There is no way I'd get all my protein for the day if I didn't do a shake everyday. Literally, I can't eat that much. I wish you luck. Did the doc have an explaination on the shake issue?

A can of tuna has something like 30 grams of protein.
