hi rachael, aside from talking with your nutritionist at your program, maybe we could help if you could outline what a typical day looks like for you? what one person thinks is too much is 'normal' for another. susan

ok so I am ordering a new protien shake right now...I just can't stand the one I have so I haven't been drinking that for some time. Today for instance this is what I had: B- green tea with 1 equal s- 3 of my sons fries ( not typical-I felt so guilty I added 25 minutes to my workout) L- 1/2 c steamed green beans with a little salt. s- 2 bites of fat free cottage cheese. D- I will be having 1/4 cup of baked salmon probably a little less... I haven't had enough water today and I am paying for it....I have a major headache.

well girl, i cannot see how you think you are eating too much! first of all, i had to laugh out loud (really!) when i read about adding 25 minutes to your workout for your 3 fries! yeah, not enough liquids by any means - you already know that. also - maybe not enough protein? how about some cheese melted on the beans? i have been eating 'friendship cottage cheese' - it seems to be a little higher in protein - a 1/2 cup is 16 grams of protein. also, it is a little tangier and a little less wet then the others i've tried. but i don't eat the fat free - i eat the lofat. my nutritionist told me that we need some fat in our bodies, we take in so little. so no more fatfree dairy for me - i hate the taste, anyway. also, i'm guilty of what you are doing - i had my 3 month surgeon/nutritionist appt today and they both said that i should eat 6 times a day, every 4 hours, even if it's just a few spoons of something. so - no, i don't think you're eating too much! ps - tea is not breakfast! lol! susan

I think it is in your head too. I'm not feeling like I'm eating too much yet, but I'm afraid to eat much. Sort of a similar problem I think. Here is what I had today: B - some protein drink (20 grams - Isopure) L - 1 ounce of tuna (I had three ounces but couldn't eat it) D - 1/2 a shrimp and some spinach and mushrooms. drinking throughout the day: 1/4 cup of decaf tea at work 1/2 cup of decaf tea after dinner 8 ounces of Isopure protein drink. I know this is not enough but I feel full after one bite. A friend I work with had the surgery and she thinks I have a blockage problem. I'll see the doctor in January. BTW... the green beans sound delicious! I know how you feel about the fries thing... I had 1/2 a french fry and had guilt. Have you gotten headaches when you don't get enough water? I have been having horrible headaches and have been trying to figure out why. Maybe that is the key.

I have been getting migraines more freequently and I am sure it's because I haven't had enough water. My Doc also said it's because when someone loses wieght so rapidly their body takes awhile to adjust....we have too many hormones for our shrinking bodies. I notice that when I get my period sure enough I get the worst headache along with it. Nothing relieves these headaches for me. When I don't drink enough water I get severe headaches as well, but it seems to get better when I get in a propel and some water. Last night I couldn't get the darn headache to go away, so I put the kids to bed filled up the tub and calgon took me away for awhile. I took some adult ultra strength Tylenol and drank a ton of water and went to bed. I am doing better today, but I knwo if I don't stay on top of my water it will be another day of torture. Your dinner sounded so yummy I think I am going out and getting some shrimp. I usually have a spinich salad with fat free dressing and shredded parmisean cheese once or twice a day, but I have been out of spinich and too busy to get to the store. I'll get there for sure today though. Thanks to you all for responding to my post....I am thankful for this messageboard...our WA state board is pretty slow. Have a good day! Rachael

Rachael, I was thinking that lack of water may be my whole issue. I think you just confirmed it. How do you take the tylenol? Do you cru**** I haven't taken any pills yet because I'm afraid they will get stuck since I have had a hard time getting food down that isn't chewed up to almost puree. Do you crush them? I have only sprinkled capsule contents onto a spoon of applesauce or taken my leftover liquid tylenol from surgery when it gets really bad. I've got one dosage left and I'm hoping that I'll be able to swallow after that. This is the only board I go to anymore, and sporadically at that because of my schedule. I love this board too because it is so active and everyone is supportive. I wish I had more time to keep up with it. Laura

You are DEFINITELY not eating too much!! If you have lost 77 lbs. since surgery, I'd say you are FINE!!! In fact, I wonder if you are eating enough! How many calories to do you get daily? My nutritionist said I need at least 800. I don't usually get that many and she thinks that is why my weight loss is slow. I've lost 34 lbs. post -op.
