increased appetite...

Hi Everyone, I have seen a major increase in my appetite in the last week or so. I used to never want to eat, and now all i want to do is eat. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I am trying to eat high protein foods opposed to drinking the protein shakes...and i was thinking that i was eating too much, but, i stop when i get full. Then after a little while, i'm hungry again. I don't want to keep eating all day. Any suggestions on what types of food i can eat at work that will make me a little more full between "real" meals. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Missy

Are you drinking fluids with your meals?

i am not drinking fluids with my meals, but i do drink at least two 16.9oz bottles of water while i'm at work, plus at least another bottle at home, but i never drink while i eat.

That's good! You are doing far better than I at the not-drinking-during-meals thing. I am hungry 3-5 times a day! I don't mind being hungry 3 times a day - seems like normal - but 5?? I'm sure as were work with our bodies we will learn how to best handle the hunger for our long term success!

Hello Missy, I am in the same boat. I just want to eat all the time. Let me know if you find out something I don't know. I went back to drinking protien. Only because it makes me nausous (sp?), and then am I able to not be hungry all the time. Best wishes, Margaret 310/235

Your brain may be confusing thirst with hunger. I typically drink a lot more water, crystal light, decaf tea...etc. I typically eat around 4 meals a day and drink about a gallon of fluid a day. I will eat and 30 minutes to an hour afterwards drink at least 24 ounces. Keeping busy is also important to me to keep me from thinking about food. I used to have to set an alarm clock to remind me when its time to eat. Dennis

I'm hungry a lot too, Missy. I talked to my doctor about it and he just laughed. He said "Well, you don't get to be "not hungry" forever!" I said that I didn't expect it to be forever, but at least maybe 6 months!! Or even 3 months! lol The doctors and nutritionists tell me it is just "head hunger", but I don't think so. I've dealt with "head hunger" long enough to know the difference!! I am eating 3 meals daily and 3 "snacks" (protein drinks) in between. That is what my nutritionist suggested. I still only get in about 800 calories daily with that!!

Missy, I have had trouble with being hungry. It helps to see that a lot of people responded to you post. Let stick together ande get through this phase. I'm making veg soup as this use to help me when I was hungery. I'm getting more serious about exercise. We will come up with a plan that works. Water is important also. Keep us posted Maybe we can call this the 3 month appetite battle Hugs and good luck to all Dolores
