protein & hot chocolate trick (valori?)...

hi, i was emailing with someone who had trouble with protein powder and hot chocolate (valori?) and today i read on the main boards the trick and it works - you cannot use boiling water. so heat up your water, pour it in your sf cocoa, wait until it's not boiling and THEN SLOWLY add your scoop of whey powder. perfect! susan

I was just wondering, what will happen if one was to add the protein to water that is too hot? Can this work with every whey PRO? I am ready to try it NOW! I just got a case of SF Swiss Miss at Costco, it will be nice to have a warm drink in this cold.

hi, i don't know about every whey pro when i added the whey powder to the hot cocoa (when the water was boiling from the kettle), it just became a clumpy gloppy mess. yuck. it dissolved really well in the hot, not boiling, water. i'm going to have one right now! susan

Every protein powder I have tried can't hold up to heat....kind of turns into a really thick lumpy gravy....lol Dennis

The protein sorta "cooks" like an egg would!! It is very lumpy and GROSS. I even tried putting it in the blender one time to get the lumps out and it was just gritty and GROSS!! lol

Alot of it depends on what kind of whey protein you're using. I'm using Advantage EAS, and it mixes really well in the blender, but horrible when mixed with ho****er. What if you blend the mixed advantage and then mix the chocolate in it, then heat it in the microwave? Hmm, I might try that. Johanna
