Hello! My surgery was 9/7/04 and I'm doing OK except for those frustrating plateaus that I try to ignore. I'm excited because my BMI has gone from 53.3 to 40.0 today!!! I'm also under 250 for the first time in 8 years... thank goodness. I will be three months in a little over a week so I can't complain about my progress. I don't get enough water in. I barely get enough protein in thanks to my shakes. I think eating is annoying at best most of the time. I'm apparently taking enough vitamins because my bloodwork shows I'm OK. I can't complain. I do have vomiting occasionally (one to three times a week sometimes) but it is usually to eating too fast or swallowing something before it was chewed enough or if I eat when I'm not relaxed. I still have about 100 pounds to go but I think it will come off in the next year and I'm looking forward to my six month point. I don't post as often as I should but I do update my profile a few times a month to a few times a week. Thanks for the post and good luck to you Rebecca! Laura RNY 9/7/04 - 330/248/140

So I'll know then how much more. I did have a real hard time at first, after I passed the 2 month mark I seemed to get better. You are all doing so well! Keep up the great work everyone!! God Bless! My surgery was 9-13-04 and I am currently down 50 pounds from my official pre-op weight of 294, but overall am down almost 80 pounds from my high in February 2004. Eating can definitely be a PITA, both in terms of having to do it, but also when my little tummy does want food as I still have problems with patience and focusing in on my eating - i.e. not drinking or swallowing too soon. I am currently working my way up to steak. I can do a few ounces of a soft tenderloin, but only if I am really focused on chewing. That is actually easy to do as I have missed the taste. Otherwise, it is ground beef with garlic or taco or chili seasoning. Turkey and chicken don't work for me yet. Pork is working in terms of tamales (my thanksgiving treat), otherwise it doesn't. Currently am looking forward to my second B12 shot this week. Congrats to everyone on their accomplishments thus far, let's keep it going, going, gone .... ~Lowery

Hi, my name is Missy. My surgery date was 9/9/04 and i am currently down 76 lbs. My start weight was 314 and i am now 238, and i've gone from a size 26/28 top to a 18/20 (which is getting big now) and i am in a size 22 jeans (also a little big). This has been an overwhelming experience so far. For the first time in my life people are actually telling me i'm getting "skinny"...of course, i think they are blind, but i guess compared to what i looked like before, that is a compliment. As for eating, i am really trying to devolop better eating habits than i had before, but it is still a struggle everyday to eat the "right things". Exercise is something else i'm struggling with, but i am trying to get on track before it's too late. I was never "flabby" before and now i am flabby all over, and i need to get a handle on that. Well, congratulations to everyone and i hope to keep reading posts from all of you. Take care!!

Good Morning Rebecca, This is a great idea. I had my surgery on September 3, 2004. My start weight was 286lbs the heaviest I have ever been with lots of medical problems, now I am down 50lbs(236lbs) and doing great. No more medications or CPAP machine for sleep apnea. Oh, to live again! I didn't have any nausea or vomiting in the beginning, now I am starting to have some every now and then. That is not the fun part. But I would do it again if I had to. I am here in Kansas, where are you located? You have a great day, Renee
