Hi Stephanie! ;) Ditto to Emily R.'s respone! Turkey first, then some mashed potatoes, probable a little green bean casserole and I am sure I will be full! :O Maybe try some stuffing and turkey later for a small snack. I am not carb a phobic and we are allowed things like this. A lot of people freak if they hear me or see me eating mashed potatoes. It is okay! For me anyway! Good for you Emily R. for making a SF Pie---I bought mine!!! but it is so awesome! Hubby bought one for me awhile ago, as I was planning on making pumpkin pie for him for his birthday and he wanted me to be able to eat with them. It is a low carb, SF pumpkin pie from the grocery store. It costs $5.99 but it is so worth it. I was going to make two recipes from WLS posts but hubby said that buying this pie was a lot cheaper and easier. How could I pass that up? So, I bought stuff for the relish tray at my mom's house and bought a pie. Can't get easier than that! Love you guys! ;) Hope we have a great first WLS Thanksgiving. I had a lot of emotional and mental games last weekend at a family gathering for a baptism and a great dinner afterward and didn't expect it to hit me so hard not to eat like I use to---first time with my siblings and their spouses and family since the WLS. I didn't expect it to be so hard. So, I hope today will be easier than I anticipate. They said they all know how hard it was for me last weekend and will be supporting me today! ;) Bless their hearts! I figured it would be okay to eat at a family gathering because I can still have 'normal' things to eat...........didn't realize the intesity of not being allowed to eat but a little bit compared to a normal portion---but my family doesn't eat normal portions! :O I had already been through counseling and felt like I am dealing with things emotionally as I mourned my old self's way of eating, but boy did it hit me. SO, let's all say a prayer for each other because as much as I think it is okay, I fear that I will be in wanting of more food to stuff down and I can't do that to myself, so I am left with dealing with feelings of want and need. Interesting how this is so powerful. My counselor said that it is old habits and it will take a long time to overcome. I fully agree. Oh my! I sure didn't mean to write a novel on here. I meant to just say ditto and move on. Guess I needed to vent. Thanks for listening! Michelle ;)

Hi Michelle! I'll be praying that your Thanksgiving is a happy one. Remember that today is about giving thanks and not about how much we can eat. That's a hard one for me too because my family events always seem to focus on food (how did it ever get that way?). My family has always depended on me to do the desserts and this year is no exception. I did 3 pumpkin pies and a bourbon chocolate pecan tart. I was hoping to catch a break this year, but family members also have a hard time breaking old habits. I love to cook so I didn't mind, but I also love to eat so I decided that I would make 2 special desserts for me. Not that I can eat it all, but I'm hoping that others will be curious enough to try something different and this way I can sample 2 different desserts and feel special. I made a sf chocolate fudge pudding pie and mini pecan pumkin cheese cakes (yum!). My plan today is to focus on me and my schedule. I will bring along my protein drinks and make sure I get them when I should as well as all my water. When it's time for dinner, I'll eat a little dark turkey and whatever else looks good. When I'm done I'll probably be the one to clear the table, refill everyone's drinks, and server desert when it's time. I just want to enjoy being with family and will constantly be thanking God today for the blessings he's given me. Focus on you and know that you are special. We both have to remember that food got us to a very unhealthy place in our lives and we were blessed with a surgery that's going to bring us back to good health. The good mental health will always be our struggle and food will always be a road block. Focus on the positives and don't let the negatives steal the joy of your day! Happy Thanksgiving! Julia
